New Saratoga AM station proposed....

Apparently the former owner of WIZR/WSRD-Johnstown is hoping to buy, re-license and move an existing 1000 watt or 5000 watt AM station to Saratoga Springs. Any guesses as to what station??? Considering that WIZR is currently dark, and has been for the past couple of months, I could easily see that being the one....

Is that why 930 is down??

I wondered that a couple weeks ago......

Why doesnt he just put it back on .93 in saratoga?? (I dont think it will compromise 920 (Not from saratoga))

WIZR 930 Johnstown has been down for 6 months. As far as moving it to Saratoga is concerned, I would say that the best way technically would to go with a 2-tower directional array located just south of the state park. Have the signal beam north, pull in the south, some also fron east and west. There are stations on 930 in Buffalo, Rochester, NH, and Patterson, NJ. that will have to be protected at night. I don't believe Canada would be a problem. WIZR at is J-town location was 1000 watts day and 28 watts at night, although it is widely believed that the manager was running over power at night. Going directional at night might get them 250 to 400. Directional during the day might allow for 2500 to 5000 watts.

I guess we will no longer be able to call WIZR "The Triple City Giant" if it moves to Saratoga!
It was a catchy pharse.
