New Savannah websites are up

They look fine, but here's my question...why is it neccessary that every single CC station website must use this format? I'm not one of those "Cheap Channel sucks, they voicetrack every shift and the music logs come straight from Cincy" guys, but why can't the stations be original with it?

My guess is...

..because Clear Channel sells ads on their websites on a national level. They probably need to standardize their websites to make that possible.

Good question, since I was the genius who authorized "newsradio1290wtks.com", let me field this one for Russ.

Once someone in the company persuaded Randy Michaels to let Savannah have the precious WTKS AM calls (WTKS FM being in Orlando) we discovered someone had grabbed the obvious url before we could, 1290wtks.com, and was squatting on it. It seemed that getting the name right and hammering it into people minds mattered more than brevity (although I remember my sales manager flinching when I told her the url) so we went with the full "newsradio1290wtks.com".

Since you brought it up, I checked, and sure enough, 1290WTKS.com is available. Or it was anyway. I just bought it.

Right now it points to the WTKS AM website but for twenty bucks ($13.64 plus shipping and handling) it's Clear Channel's Russ!
______________

But of course, I'd forgotten all about it till you mentioned it. Not that anyone cares. They probably don't even KNOW why their web address is so long.
______________
