It was the FCC’s "Auction 109," 136 FM signals and 4 AM signals. In the end, there was one South Carolina station. 95.5, a class A station, licensed to Edgefield, north of Augusta. Winner of the bid was Glory Communications, Inc., which will pay $25k for the license.
A quick search finds that Glory also owns a station in Columbia SC.
I'm sure this new station is able to squeeze in on that frequency because of WSBB, also on 95.5 in Atlanta, which just moved closer to downtown Atlanta and away from SC. (Likely also the reason for this earlier thread. 😁) https://www.radiodiscussions.com/threads/carole-king-sung-of-this-day.736934/
