New Set at KPRC Houston

Anyone else seen the new set that was launched today? Looks very cheap/crappy...kinda like sister station KSAT San Antonio.

Obviously, Local 2 has just ditched the newsroom because budget-cutting Post-Newsweek want something cheap and more reliable. It looks like the set of Noticias 45 Univision (KXLN-TV) Lots of plasma TV's, LED screens in the backdrop, natural wood paneling, and walls made out of stone. It looks pretty cool.

I guess KPRC had to keep up with the Smith, Jones and Murdocks. They are the last to get a new set this year as everyone upgraded to the sets designed to maximize their look on the LCD, DLP and Plasma Sets. Looks like Post Newsweek went shopping at Big Lots for not only their new set, but their new graphics package as well. All very cheap and generic small market looking. Along with the revolving anchor and reporter door, this set and graphics package puts them right in line with their projection of average mediocrity.

KPRC Local 2 unveiled its graphic package first, and it looks real ugly because they hired a 6th grader to become their graphics designer. Also their newscast is right behind FOX 26, and Univision 45. Sounds like the revolving doors of Local 2: They keep coming, and they keep going. After all of these major changes, KPRC still SUCKS!

haha... i think sometimes people are in a hurry to hate on tv/radio these days.

i wasnt that big of a fan of the new graphics when i first saw them, but the more i look at them, the more i like them. theyre not all round like the old ones... theyre nice and flat. theyve REALLY grown on me.

what blows me away is how it seems like tv has gone from a lot going on onscreen (2 or 3 crawl bars, full screen stretched graphics, all kinds of artwork) to less and less. i actually think it looks pretty nice and clean, but maybe im wrong. i really dont watch that much tv. i just noticed the new set/graphics after walking by a random tv.

its rare to find a media outlet these days that doesnt turn over talent quickly... but i always seem to like the people they hire. *shrug* its just tv... there are more important things to worry about lol

Maybe they could move the logo to the left of the screen (like FOX 26), It would be much cleaner. NBC (Local 2's Affilliate) has its peacock-which is also to the left of the screen.

As if all this is going to help Channel 2 in tne first place. Last time I saw tnem six months ago they needed a lot more than a news set to solve the train wreck their newscasts have become.
