When I tuned into Sunrise this morning, I noticed that WTHR had debuted a new set and graphics. It seems they may have tweaked the opening music as well.
This "new" set doesn't seem that different than the old one. But the graphics are better, except for the "wthr.com" on the bug. It is too small to be legible in SD.
Too much reflection on Chris Wright's head from the shiny desk.
Otherwise looks like 200 thousand dollars worth of furniture.
Fits with the new master control and new hd image. Bright and shiny.
kind of like Mr Rodgers red sweater in 1968 when the colors were first presented and everything was "hot". Grandpa never would just advance the color slightly past b and w, he had to tuuuuurn it waaaay up.
Lawrence welk's band on pbs now just isn't the same. All the blue suits looked neon smurf blue circa 1968.
then we drove home from grandpas and I kept imagining that stupid peacock in color and asking my mom why it still looked b and w on our set. No color till after the moon landing. thank God they used b and w cameras on the Apollo mission or I really would have missed out.
BTW - Mimi shouldn't wear that pink outfit again. Doesn't fit. too bright, makes the fit more obvious. Stick to dark colors.
The olympics are expected to boost their viewership so they wanted a brand new set in time for that. Or maybe they're just still smarting from the beatdown WISH gave them.
Is it just me, or are they doing more news delivery in a standing position with the new set? The standing position does seem to emphasize the immediacy of the news, and makes it more "active" rather than "passive" in my mind.

I love it! It's all so very "high tech," and it seems to be ahead of its time. I would have loved to see Bob Gregory's report on Solar Energy for older homes.
I bet more care and consideration was put into each newscast back then; today it's all about producing quantity, moreso than quality.
