New Sheriff at WYRK

According to Radio and Records, R.W Smith is out. Wendy Lynn has been promoted to PD at the station.Smith also programmed Classic Country 1230. Thoughts?

Tin Star Award

CBS is trying to save money. It goes along with the dumping of Mike McQueen. Pump up the profits, boys. Maybe you'll get somebody to bite on 16X cash flow for the entire group.

The above posts make it sound as if RW was fired and Wendy Lynn given the job in a cost cutting measure. That is not true. RW resigned in part because he had a great opportunity in Vegas and more importantly to him, his family wasn't happy here.

Wendy Lynn may not be making the same kind of money, but she certainly deserves the job. She has spent the last several years as APD under John Paul and RW. She has done an excellent job. And RW himself said he thought she was the best and most deserving candidate for the PD job at WYRK. I find in interesting that when JP was given the PD gig after spending several years as APD, everyone was applauding the move, but when Wendy gets the same opportunity, it is seen as a "cost cutting measure." I think she should be given a big pat on the back for working as hard as she has. Good Luck Wendy!

So, did RW have an air shift? Has Wendy Lynn given up her airshift to concentrate on programming?

Wendy Lynn may deserve the job, but does she deserve it any more NOW than she did when John Paul left?

CBS/Infinity is in cost-saving mode. They have a veteran staff, and Wendy Lynn apparently knows enough about the computer system to avoid screwing things up. It's a nice pat on the back for her, and some extra $$$, but the bottom line is still the bottom line.
