New Shoutcast Station Broadcasting Vintage Airchecks 24/7

I think the bitrate is ok for airchecks, its just that some airchecks don't have as good audio quality as others in my collection.

It's very disappointing to have all this scoping going on in the airchecks hobby. Please consider an unscoped station if you can get them.

Not to be a downer, but you'll open yourself up to RIAA/ASCAP/BMI/SoundExchange if you don't have any agreements in place to pay royalties when playing unscoped airchecks. Personally, I wouldn't chance it.

Streaming with a provider like Live365 whose plans include royalties would be worth looking in to.

I don't think they pay too much attention to shoutcast broadcasts..even at Live 365 there is someone who also broadcasts airchecks there.

Enjoyed a 1977 aircheck from WHN this morning. Funny to hear an ad for Country Music Magazine with a special subscription offer available by writing to "Radio Station WHN, P.O. Box, etc." I thought announcers stopped saying "Radio Station XXXX" sometime during the later years of the FDR administration.

Yes, and Live365 personal accounts HAVE ROYALTY COVERAGE!. You're leaving yourself open to liability by openly streaming unscoped airchecks. The choice is certainly up to you and it's a gamble to see if one gets caught.

I have Royalty Coverage too

Please tell this semi-broadcast-literate individual what scoped and unscoped are.
Are they the same as compressed (without full songs) and not?

I've never seen the term "compressed," but yes, "scoped" means very short snippets of songs to avoid royalty issues, "unscoped" means songs played in their entirety. I think the origin is "telescope," which one can expand by sections to see farther distances.

... very short snippets of songs to avoid royalty issues ...

Does that fly these days? I think I recall reading awhile back that Coast To Coast AM is no longer permitted to air its intro song segments on the Internet. God forbid someone might "steal" half a song!

I assume it still does. The Red Sox radio network comes out of its between-innings breaks with snippets of classic rock tunes that fade out as the announcers return. Maybe Coast to Coast has its usual tinfoil hat on and is taking unnecessary precautions.

Compressing was not done for that reason.
Program directors did not want to sit through full songs when listening to resumé tapes.
A really good jock could lift a needle and drop it near the end of the record without ever stopping.
