The Real Deal Drive-In with The Real Deal Bob Steele is now available, I am constantly working on the show to make it better. It is a really wild blast from the past featuring a real 60's feel w/ rare oldies from the 50's 60's 70's as well as movie trailers, TV themes, Interviews, Requests, Vintage commercials and alot of "what The Heck" Moments! If you want to listen to a demo, I can email you a password to download a copy. I think you will love it.

The show sample is now on my website. I currently have 2 stations running the show and am looking for more. Does anyone have a suggestion on the best way to approach a PD about my show? I have been e-mailing, but I think maybe there is a better way without being a pain.

Greetings from CT...

Got intrigued by your entry here and thought for a moment 'did someone resurrect the same Bob Steele Hartford grew up with from the 50s-90s on WTIC? You aren't him, but your invite to the aircheck is of great interest. Doing my own oldies schtick Sunday mornings on WINY/Putnam CT to a fast growing and loyal audience, coming up on its first anniversary next month. You can check it out live online at winyradio.com airing 6-11am Eastern on Sundays.

Don't be discouraged by the lack of clamoring for syndication, you have a good start at that and I would love to move my show forward in that arena at some point. Trouble is that the local station and I have invested heavily in its local listeners, and when you do that, you run the risk of homogenizing things so that the local flavor gets lost. In southern New England the demand for good oldies music is growing, especially since the 50s/60s stuff had been disappearing in place of 70s/80s hits and the frightening changes in formats being thrown at people here.

Looking forward to your link!

What's with your micropower affiliate 1650 Oldies Radio? Was on their site last night and the page was open to anyone...but now when I logged on this morning and I clicked on the link or tried to type in its URL manually,it demands my username and password! Creepy!

My tips

1. Don't forget that GMs often make these decisions, dont forget maybe emailing a GM or two.

2. Remove that part where someone is singing over the phone, that sounded very amateurish.

3. Play a bit more (5 seconds) of each song because your demo lets us know what YOU sound like, not what your SHOW sounds like.

4. Consider Sirius or XM also.

5. You might have to advertise in a trade like radio and records or rbr or someplace like that. Sorry, but that is really the quickest way to get the word out, but I know it's expensive.

Good luck.

Thanks radioray-I do need a new demo. I really have been trying to cover all bases and get a little lost in the basic things. Thanks for the tips!

I put up a new demo-let me know what you think. What kind of things do listeners like in a website?
