New Show Coming to 93.9 The Ville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville is starting a weekly news radio show. It will be broadcast on 93.9 "The Ville," which is known for its sports programming -- but will soon air news about U of L.

According to U of L's website, the show starting next Monday will be called "U of L Today with Mark Hebert." Hebert will host two weekly 30-minute programs on the station.

The show will focus on research and insights from U of L faculty, stories about successful students and campus events.

It's a shame such a good signal is being wasted with all this UL programming

Would it be better to be wasted with the silence that Cumulus would have preferred to have left on there, or with Way FM/Air 1/K-Love? I don't think the 93.9 signal is being wasted at all, though I do feel that the current owners are doing a sort of lackluster job of making it known they even exist, not to mention the failure to make it clear what they are even all about.

It's not even clear if they are an ESPN or nbc station or both? Are they going to try and get the rights to the football and basketball games since they are fully a UL station? I wonder what their plans are moving forward and what in turn it will mean for 790.

Only 30 minutes?
.
When I lived in Louisville 93.9 was classic hits and a good station I thought. Sounded like WGRR in Cincy.

The reason that WGRR sounded like WLCL back then was that they both were owned by Cumulus.I also thought that WLCL was pretty good.

93.9's twitter bio says they are powered by ESPN and they aren't even airing Colin Cowherd's last show for ESPN Radio. They are airing NBC.

I don't know why they say they are powered by ESPN when they only air ESPN programming m-f 10a-3p, the rest of the time they are local or NBC sports radio. 93.9 should stick with NBC and ESPN on 680/105.7
