Hot off the press:

"Manahawkin, NJ – Calling out around the world, are you ready for a brand new beat? Summer is here and the time is right, for TJ Lubinsky.

Premiering August 7th, the PBS music producer and Bradley Beach native is making his move to the local FM dial, giving Jersey Shore listeners a new twist with his all new local “Oldies 100 WJRZ Sunday night request show. Featuring five hours of the Jersey Shore’s favorite hits of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, all by request, Sunday evenings from 7pm to midnight. Jersey’s best “Motown, Soul, and great Rock and Roll”.

“This is a dream come true for me” says the 33 year-old creator and producer of the most successful fundraising shows in PBS history (including Doo Wop 50, 70s Soul Superstars, the 60s Rock Experience and more), “to spend my summer vacation in Bradley Beach, my hometown, on my old block, and to share these songs and stories with WJRZ listeners, my hometown’s oldies station, is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream”.

“Everyone at WJRZ is a fan of TJ and his incredible PBS shows. We are all very excited to have him on the team. He shares our love of Rock and Roll and has dedicated his life to preserving “the sound”. We have great talent on this radio station, the addition of TJ makes this lineup awesome”, says WJRZ Operations Manager Jeff Rafter.

Rock Legends including Roger McGuinn from The Byrds, Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night, Tommy James of The Shondells, Rob Grill of The Grass Roots, Martha Reeves and more will also join TJ live on the radio to share their memories and music with local New Jersey listeners. “I wanted to offer WJRZ listeners access to the many relationships I have developed with many of the performers I’ve recorded and produced over the years”, explains Lubinsky, “not only can Jersey shore listeners call-into my Sunday night show to hear their favorite oldie live by request, there’s a really good chance we’re likely to actually call the artist performing the song they requested, live on the radio phone lines for a three-way party line/request show that is unique to the New Jersey shore, and most of all radio for that matter”.

Lubinsky’s show will feature the big-hits, b-sides and forgotten 45’s that Jersey loves, all by request. TJ will have weekly contests including “Ask Tillie”, “Jersey Jukebox Match Game” and “What Exit am I From”? The show will check-in live with Jersey’s best diners and boardwalk attractions in Seaside. Special surprise famous Jersey guests are also expected to stop by or call-in from time to time.

“This is about what we share in our hearts – from starting the days with a hard roll to the rides in Seaside” reflects TJ “it’s only happening one place, and that’s Sunday nights on WJRZ, made in Jersey – for Jersey”!"

I cant wait - I thoght his show on WPEN was a great addition, and from what this looks like, the new show on WJRZ will be just as good or better. This adds more variety to WJRZ and is great news after what happened at CBS-FM.<P ID="signature">______________

Sounds like a move in the right direction for WJRZ... a station that is perhaps the most boring oldies station I've ever heard. No passion... maybe this will change it. Good luck, Mr. Lubinsky.
