New Show on WONE

Sports Mafia? They gonna hunt me down and bury me in the endzone of Welcome Stadium? I haven't heard it but I'll check it out. Can't be any worse than GK. He should be an example of what not to do in radio.

GK isn't on their website...I'm guessing he's gone???

AllAccess.com:WONE-A/Dayton Launches "Sports Mafia"CLEAR CHANNEL Sports WONE-A (980 HOMER, THE SPORTS ANIMAL)/DAYTON adds a new local show for 6-8p weeknights, "THE SPORTS MAFIA." Weekender and former WAMR-A/SARASOTA host STEVE HUGGINS and producer/host DAVE ALEXANDER are teaming up for the new show.

Okay got a chance to listen to this show last week. Holy crap what a difference!!! These guys are still a little rough but they sound much better than GK and were fun to listen to. I laughed my (earmuffs) off at the Faith Hill speech.

I agree... it sounds better than before, but that's not saying much. While I'm thinkng of it.... Does anyone know if they're bringing High School football back in the fall. I thought it was really good coverage after they replaced Guy Fogle (awful) with.... umm.... (Eddie?) Leo. I hope they bring David Fulcher back too. He autographed a shirt for my son at a Northmont game. I thought Fulcher and Leo were great.

I think you're thinking of Scott Leo, who has done PxP all over the place. I think he's doing Columbus Clippers minor league baseball. He also does Wittenberg University sports, and has done radio with the Richmond Roosters baseball team before heading to Columbus, as well as some cable TV work with Wright State sports.I think he's got a younger brother that also does sports but I think is still in high school and doing PxP on Fairmont's high school station.

Yeah, that's right. I couldnt remember his first name. I haven't heard him on the station latley, hopefully he comes back. I remember thinking that he was taking the broadcast serious enough to do some homework and know what he was talking about. Plus, he and Fulcher seemed to be able to joke with each other and be entertaining. I listened to more of the "Sports Mafia" about a week ago.... sounding good. I hope they add more local programming at some point. I like Lance McCallister, but the rest of the daytime stuff is bad. The Browns/Bengals sunday morning show is really good and so is the Outdoor show on Sunday evenings.
