The Saturday "Gerry V Show" has been extended an extra hour. Its now 8-11am on 995 FM WRNO New Orleans.......my shrink demanded that they do that.He s aid ti woud be good for my mental well-being......amen !

Congrats on the extra hour!

BTW... I'm working in the building doing production... I'll be keeping my eye on you........

God knows you need all the adult supervision you can get. We ALL do!

Stop by the new production room on the first floor next to traffic and say hello... we'll have a cold beverage waiting for you.

I enjoy listening when not hung-over but watch da Fat Man and his surprises. I dealt with him for a couple of years in the same room. BTW...Did you get your wing Banks?

Yes I did and I've been riding it to work all week. Just over 500 miles on the clock right now with another 120+ to add today.

Thanks Don ! Traveling right now..Minn....LA....Sac town cal....will tak you up on the offer..will you rub my feet again ?

Like that GV wit...you giving foot massages on the side Banks? Thought I saw you on the bike last week. Silver and riding down Rampart?

Gerry V - congrats on the extra hour. Too bad it couldn't be Monday-Friday from 5a-9a or 5p-8p, because Castner & Wallensky and Osterlander suck. How ignorant can Dick Lewis be bringing in outsiders who have no idea what is going on or has gone on here and putting them in morning and afternoon drive? Both of these shows are unlistenable.

When the best a morning show can do is read the nola.com blog comments, it's really sad.

Thank God for you and Lorin on Saturdays. The two of you and Glenn Beck are the only reasons left to listen to 99.5.

If it was a Monday that was me. I had to head down to Chalmette to take care of some business with the old house.

And Gerry... you gotta trim them toenails and do something about the funk before I touch them bearclaws again! You got more cheese between them toes than in all of Wisconsin.

99.5fm is an awful station Gerry, you need to run away from that place instead of doing a 3 hour show which is sandwiched between 2 other sports show in this market. By the way, I think I have figured out a way to hear the Hornets games on 102.9fm at my lower Garden district home, I sent the wife on the roof last night with an antenna. ;D Seriously, let's get the Hornets on a station people can hear in their homes. Its bad enough that no one on the Northshore can watch and CST employs 2 buffons like Gil and Bob....All the changes on 99.5 and still no Gerry V????? I thought you were better than that. What's up with 1280am? They have no more commercials? They play music now instead of commericals and bad music at that.

The Saturday show will be fine for now along with a TV project and my NBA travels.
Wife and her entire family are from New Orleans and we need roots for awhile.( Katrina forced that move to OKC for two years.

Yes it feels good when somebody calls from another market but i need to drive you folks in New Orleans and surrounding areas crazy for an extended period of time.

Plus my NBA gig is a pretty dam good one !

...Don you know i clip the nails and no cheese pal..you know that !You're just a lil upset i didn't let you rub em with that orange scented goo...lil to freaky for me ole buddy :D

join me this saturday 8-11 ( or whenever you wake up) have some issues you need to help me solve

grins

1280 has commercials. Gotta do something to fill network breaks. I may try yodeling. Suggestions welcomed. :)

Sorry Brewster but, Osterlind is terrible. Hopefully your time with him will not be a black mark on your resume.

Why did/does 1280 run the moronic 99.5 community minutes? I know you need to fill but the music and the community minutes are out of place. Get some well produced PSAs and maybe some commentaries from Gerry V.

Yodeling would probably be my 3rd choice.

Harsh reaction after three days, IMO. You're entitled. Stay tuned.

I've got it! Some well-produced Gerry V commentaries about yodeling PSAs. BRILLIANT! ;D

I also heard him when he was on as a sub.

He's not from here. He doesn't know the players or how to help fix things. He may be a great guy and a great host, but he doesn't fit here and he's not what we need. The ratings will prove that point better than me.

I am glad you're not producing Castner & Wallensky though. They are unlistenable. It takes ZERO talent to read the nola.com blogs and the newspaper verbatim because the hosts are too lazy to do show prep and too uninformed to form their own opinions or find intelligent guests. I would rather wake up to you and Gerry V voicetracking yodeling duets than waste time on those two. Hopefully Castner is renting and not buying. Wallensky needs to continue lodging at the Motel 6.

Regarding WODT, love Jim Rome and Andrew Sicciliano.

I didn't know Gerry V was an expert on yodeling. He truly is a Renaissance Man.

ya know sometimes i don't want to talk....i just want to be held..... ::)

If you don't mind, buff, allow me the chance to pick your brain...what exactly would you be looking for in a talk show host to meet your qualifications?

Gotta give the new PM Drive guy on WRNO a break folks.Give 'em a shot as he settles in.
Listen to him for a few weeks and see if he grows on you. He's feeling his way around the area
His job is not to say things everyone will agree with. Give him a wiggle room.

Now back to that foot rub.......FULL HOWAH !!!

Since you're calling me out, let's take this mix to the Wizard:

1). Someone who's from Louisiana, has connections, and can get solid guests for current topics
2). Someone with the conviction (although not the diction) of Eric Asher
3). Someone who can entertain like Gerry V
4). Someone who knows what the people of Metro New Orleans are talking about and doesn't get his/her topics and opinions from the Times-Pic
5). Someone who can say something more than "Ray Nagin sucks" (note to Osterlind: we already know that)
6). Someone who can defend their opinion without shouting down a caller who disagrees with him

but, probably the most important quality is

7). Credibility. I don't care what Castner & Wallensky or Osterlind think about anything. They have ZERO credibility when they are discussing issues related to Louisiana or Metro New Orleans.

Are those 7 enough, or should I continue?

Nah. You do have a lot of qualifications though.
