New Signal in NW Indiana?

My father tells me he saw a story in the Hammond Times about a new radio station intended to serve the Merrillville/Valparaiso
area. He couldn't find the story to give details but he's still looking.

I can't figure out if someone's buying/rebranding an existing signal, or if there's going to be a new signal.
Where could a new signal be crammed in? The expanded AM band?

And a new format for Z107 ... (found the same link while you were posting)

Radio One broadcasts expansion
Saturday, June 2, 2007 12:13 AM CDT

The 43-year-old, Valparaiso-based media company has expanded its corporate center and added a Merrillville office to the mix.

Beyond brick and mortar, Radio One has launched a new format and added on-air talent on Z107 (WZVN 107.1-FM), one of four stations in Radio One's stable, aimed at giving listeners a combination of local news and music.

As I do not live in da region, I have not heard the new format. I wonder what makes it unique? (please; no sarcastic replies!)

Wow. I remember when Mr Ellis took WAKE FM and turned it into WLJE with country music on the FM WAY back in 75 or so!

And Z-107 is really just good ol' WLCL Lowell. OK. No new signal. I didn't think it was likely to be a new signal.

nothing....not sarcastic

They are using a satellite soft ac format (the best of the 70s,80s,90s, and today is the network positioner)

They have the three local whatnots follow that playlist.

It is a return to Z107 if anything, which was soft ac and worthless for years.

For whatever reason, Radio One insists on using satellite services instead of hiring quality people.

Scott Rosenberg can't jock his way out of a paper sack....The Cruz guy sucked too much in AM drive so they buried him in afternoons. And this "PD" morning guy is pretty lame.

We are talking about a group of 4 radio stations that have 5 full timers and maybe 3 part timers.

The only reason they have an "office" in M'ville is to appear that they are a Lake County group as well....only problem is no one outside of Valpo listens to any of their stations.

No sarcasm here....
