New Sitcoms, what do you think

After watching all of the new sitcoms, I relized there's no real good one like "Friends,"Two And a Half Men, or Cheers. The best is probably "Community" and the worst is "Modern Family. The sitcoms "Hank" and " Middle are okey, but "Cougar Town" and "Accidently on Propose" were boring.

The only one of those I saw was Accidently on Purpose, and was not impressed.
Am guessing Cougar Town is pretty much the same show?

You didn't like Modern Family? That was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Gotten the same reaction from alot of people.

I'd have to agree. I think that Modern Family has been great so far. Community is great.

I don't watch too much TV in the way of sitcoms anymore, but I had a chance to view many of the Wednesday shows last night. Cougar Town is jaw-droppingly awful. The whole comedic delivery of all of the characters seems so forced. The show before Modern family with Patricia Heaton (of Everybody Loves Raymond) as one of the stars is pretty bad as well.

Modern Family had some hilarious moments. "Hank", as much as I love Kelsey Grammer, was a big disappointment and will be cancelled soon. "The Middle" with Patricia Heaton was very good, and I was surprised ABC did not promote it at all. "Community" was a disaster. NBC hasn't aired a funny show since the last season of "Frasier."

"The Office" is a Thursday night appointment at our house. So we stayed with NBC for "Community." We had high hopes, but gave up quickly. Looked like a sad attempt at squeezing a tired Chevy Chase into the "Breakfast Club."

Still liking Thursday. "Flash Forward" at 8, "Office" at 9, clean up popcorn and soda cans at 9:30, and a few minutes of Leno at 10. Not bad!

Agreed. I thought Patricia Heaton's "The Middle" was actually funny & I'll most likely watch it again. Loved the scene with the driver license photo... how many of us have experienced that? It was nice to see regular everyday dorky kids for a change. (I can't stand shows with smartass kids who think they know more than their parents).

You must not watch much ABC. "The Middle" has been relentlessly promoted for the past 2-3 weeks.

The Middle is too much like Fox's Malcom in the Middle. Modren Family is doing good in the 18 to 49 group. The Office is beating the current Survivor season. Community is decient. They need to improve in their writing. Hank is one season. CBS is doing great with the Chuck Lorre comedy block. The Cleveland Show have it moments but it feels that they are too dependent on recycle Family Guy scripts. I did like the Cleveland Show cold opening of their pilot episode. How it started at 4:3 then expanded to 16:9.

No winners. A few laughs per episode but nothing like the pace of "Two and a Half Men" for instance. Even BBT has been a disappointment so far.

Well, I saw "Modern Family," "Hank," "The Middle," "Community," "Cougar Town," and "Accidentally On Purpose." Buy if I had a bet on who might be a future EMMY candidate in 2010, all of it would point to "Modern" because of the excellent casting and great scripting.

You mean "Two and 3/4 Men" now. ::)

You have a point there although I think young "Jake" has kept his same persona throughout the series. Not many child actors can do that.

Maybe, but he seems edgier. This is not a bad thing. The show's still good, but not quite what it was.

So here are my opinions of the seven shows mentioned.

"Hank" is the best. Yes, that goes against everything the critics and the viewers have said. That's how much I like Kelsey Grammer. It's a shame his wife is so flat. I liked her so much as the beautiful second in command on "The Commish". Yes, the guy on "The Shield" was once warm and fuzzy.

"The Middle" is close behind. I think the girl is so cute. I have to admit the show is changing my mind about feeling sorry for people going through misfortune on comedies. On this show I just sit back and enjoy.

"Modern Family" isn't nearly as appealing as I had hoped. The Colombian woman is hot. I like the teenage girl. It's a pleasure to see Ed O'Neill not being quite as big a loser.

I guess "Accidentally on Purpose" is next. I really like Jenna Elfman and always have since "Dharma and Greg". I like the annoying friend with the beard. I can't stand the girl that talks like Shrek, although she does have nice hair. She was easier to like when she was Betty's best friend. And I can't stand the sister.

"Community" depends largely on what's happening. I don't really like anyone on the show. There are two pretty girls who sort of have nice personalities. Chevy Chase isn't what I had hoped for. I figured he'd be a professor.

If not for "Family Guy" I wouldn't even bother with "The Cleveland Show". But I have to at least try it. Sometimes it's okay.

"Cougar Town" is last on the list. I never liked "Friends" so I don't know why I find Courteney Cox so appealing, other than the fact she's still hot. I don't like anyone else on the show or the raunchy humor. I can enjoy raunchy humor from Charlie Sheen, or Seth McFarlane.

I'm starting to get hooked on The Middle. It sort of reminds me of those good old family shows from the past like Leave It To Beaver. With the exception of the older son who has a typical 2009 teenage mopey attitude, I can just see Beaver Cleaver in the same situations as the daughter Sue and the youngest kid Brick.

So many sitcoms just revolve around physical relationships and who's scoring with whom... this show's different.

I don't like The Cleavland Show. I watch 2 1/2 Men sometimes (but think it's a stupid show). The ones on NBC looked stupid from the previews so I didn't watch them. And I don't know why I didn't try out the ones on ABC.

The only appointment viewing I have on the 4 Broadcast Networks are: Three Rivers on CBS (now that I saw one episode last week I want to watch it again), The Biggest Loser on NBC, and America's Most Wanted on FOX. Other than that I don't watch anything on the broadcast networks. The Simpsons have gone down hill the past few years. The reruns are better (and FOX 61 bounced those to 1130 & Midnite because of Dr. OZ) and Family Guy went downhill last year.

After a month here's what I think of the 6 new sitcoms, the top is "The Middle" followed by "Hank", I think the Patricia Heaten and Kelsey Grammer sitcoms are better than the one they did together "Back To You". In 3rd would be "Modern Family", good to see Ed O'neill back in a sitcom, 4th goes to "Community", it's okay and is better than some of those other Thurday NBC sitcoms like Parks and Recreation which is terrible and 30 Rock. Tied for last is "Cougartown" and "Accidently on Purpose" ,I think they will both be the first to be cancelled and should be, Jenna Elfman was good in Darma and Greg ,but this one just plain sucks. Same with Courteney Cox great in "Friends" but this one also sucks.

Almost Agree with you except I think Hank is down with Cougartown and Accidentally on Purpose.

My Opinion

1. The Middle
2. Modern Family
3. Community
4. Cougartown
5. Accidentally on Purpose
6. Hank
7. The Cleveland Show

And really the first two are the best. Who would've thought that ABC would actually have the best new sitcoms?
