NEW SMOOTH AC NETWORK TO LAUNCH ON WJJZ MONDAY?

Tozzi could still be in. Maybe another staffer or two. Don't rule out an announcement a while back that BA had great plans for WJJZ. Perhaps to be the launch pad for its new "Smooth AC Network"? We haven't heard that Tozzi's out, or that BA is no longer an affiliate. No "goodbye" message online or on-air. Don't rule out "vocalization" of the format on Monday at 9:00, but with mainly the BA Network hosts.

If that happens, it'll be a Greater Media meltdown. And try explaining no 4th Qtr revenue to Peter Smyth. I'd like to be a fly on the wall at that meeting.

i can tell you that has a 0% chance of that happening. 4 months after kepler talked up the job he was doing with jjz, they change format. the goodship kepler is sinking faster than the titanic. or maybe i'm just missing the legions of new affiliates the smooth jazz network is signing on that he promised would happen.

to think that even 3 years ago, this format wasn't in THAT bad of shape. sure, music people like us didn't like the sound, but at least it was present in most big markets and doing well in several of them. now...think about this...on the entire eastern seaboard north of florida, the only two places smooth jazz exists on radio are on satellite-fed class A stations in norfolk, va and ocean city, md!! congrats allen kepler, the self-proclaimed evangelist of smooth jazz, for a job well done! now go recommend another john legend record and maybe another station will flip!

Well stated...and it would be very, very funny, if this whole SJ situation wasn't so sad!! :(

They seem to be just a regular A/C, reminiscent of the "Fresh" format that had its 15 minutes of fame 2 years ago.

4 years ago we had all kinds of content for SmoothViews. Now the mailbox is stuffed with covers and tributes, gimmicky concept albums, and mediocre vocalists. Around that time instrumental music started getting phased out. Then 2 years ago The Network took over. Look what happened after that.
I'm supposed to interview Koz tomorrow. Now that is going to be interesting. This guy is one of the best songwriters out there and one of contemporary instrumental music's strongest advocates. And a BA guy at the same time.
