needtobreathe - You Are Here: This sounds like Switchfoot/Christian Rock type sound. Reminds me of Dare You To Move and This Is Your Life.

Paul Wall - Oh Girl: Trash. Samples the Chi-Lites classic.

Frankie Jordan - Once Again: This SCREAMS pop balled. Originally on the Win A Date With Tod Hamilton soundtrack. I have no idea why they are releasing it now considering the soundtrack was released in January of 2004. Makes me wonder how old the song is. If someone plays it, it'll probably be at least a top-30 hit.

Jonas Brothers - Mandy: Pop rock/punk.

KT Tunstall - Black Horse & The Cherry Tree: WIXX and WIFC are always playing this. Its a bit to Hot AC/AAA for CHR IMO.<P ID="signature">______________

I wonder if some CHRs will open up to Robbie Williams again now that James Blunt and Daniel Powter are doing so well on the Pop charts. This might also be a good time to reintroduce Anastacia to CHR/Pop radio. For those who don't know, Anastacia is a phenomenon in Europe...even though she hails from New York City!

I absolutely adore "You're Beautiful" and now "Bad Day". I can't get enough of either hit. It's so great to see 'BritPop' breaking-out all across North America. It's been awhile. CHR-POP has been so saturated with urban hits for so long now. It's good to see it evolving into something a little bit different. James Blunt, Daniel Powter, Natasha Bedingfield, Cascada, etc. all deserve the success they've waited awhile for here in the U.S.

CHR-POP radio is at its very best when every hit that's played back-to-back is of a different genre. I'm talking about a hard rock hit followed by an urban hip hop jam followed by a pop ballad followed by a European dance smash and then back to another hard rock hit again. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. It's starting to get that way again. Let's keep it goin' !

Yup, that's my favorite type of CHR as well.

Now how about.... WESTLIFE!?

The first U.S. station to spin Westlife's original version of "Flying Without Wings" has gold in their hands. If you like Ruben's version, then the original will totally blow you away.

It'd be interesting if they'd tried to break their newer stuff in America. I'm not usually a fan of these guys, but to my ears "Amazing" is the catchiest boyband-type song I've heard in at least 5 years. Unfortunately, it's also very derivative... sounds just like "I Want It That Way".

Even though it's not my personal favorite among their work, Westlife's latest album is full of radio-friendly songs, including a fantastic rendition of "Desperado", as well as a catchy song called "She's Back" which has a strong R&B influence but yet still has a light, carefree Euro-pop style to it.

I think a large part of Westlife's success is due to their ability to combine the look and sound of youthful innocence and optimism with a more mature and insightful viewpoint, often within the same song. It seems like we've gotten plenty of one or the other: either lots of youthful innocence (Jesse McCartney, Click Five, etc.), or lots of dead-serious "deepness" (which Kelly Clarkson seems to be the queen of).

But to have both extremes juxtaposed with each other is something which lots of people can relate to, but yet is quite uncommon in the pop music Americans have been exposed to -- and this is exactly why James Blunt's song has become so hugely popular (indeed, it begins with optimistic innocence -- "my life is brilliant" -- and ends with realistic insight -- "I'll never be with you").

And I have to give props to my favorite Westlife song to date: "Obvious". Combine excellent musical production with top-notch lead vocals supported by strong background vocals that fit perfectly into place, and set it all to a melody full of hooks that reach out and grab you, and I think it's sheer pop music brilliance from start to finish -- especially since sound exactly like something an 18-year-old would write: very simple and honest, without being either too juvenile or too "deep". <a target="_blank" href=http://s53.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2FX4E2XZSI00R1SCJY00MKZRPS>Take a listen and let me know if you agree.

Obviously I'm a dedicated Westlife fan, otherwise I wouldn't name my ID after them here, but I know an exceptional song when I hear it -- and if this song passed Simon Cowell's approval (he's Westlife's executive producer, in case you didn't know!), then I'm not the only one who thinks it's a keeper.

It'll get lost in the shuffle, too many good uptempo pop/rock records out and building or coming out.

Heard this song the other night. Very good song. Catchy lyrics. This group reminds me of a younger sounding Blink-182 and Fountains of Wayne in one. Should be neat to see if this song goes far.

Nowhere near old school Green Day / blink-182. sounds like heavy version of hanson. Not into it at all.

Really? I like this song. It's different, sort of Jack Johnsonish. Catchy tune, I'm sure itll catch on. VH1 is all over it too. I'd rather here this than alot of other songs.
