NEW SOUND CARD PUTTING OUT NO SOUND!

Forgive me for starting a new thread on this, but I'm a novice trying to get our home p.c to play audio again after installing the Emu1212m cards. I've fiddled around with some of the ports & had some luck earlier today but did something (?)to make no audio play. None of the computer's noises worked & neither did Adobe Audition 1.5's audio.

I got the 2 Emu 1212m cards & the software installed in my home Dell. I also had to uninstall our old AudioBlaster software & now our small speakers don't work & you can't use the volume dogwheel or remote mute button on the keyboard anymore . I figured they might not work, but the fiance is ticked off. Plus I've still got that annoying noise (now the hiss is 60db with the meters set at 72db).
I ran my home stereo out of the sound card "out" so now I at least have a monitor, but now I can't listen to Adobe Audition(muchless record into it). All other audio works though. The PatchMix software didn't come with a manual, so I'm kinda lost! Thanks!

most sound card issues are these 3 .
1.is it installed correctly, firmly seated, believe me i've had similar problems with digigram cards.
2. drivers not installed or recognized, recheck.
3. IRQ conflict issues.

not sure why you did an uninstall on the audioblaster, as most computers should easily accomodate 2 or more sound cards without conflicts.
also make sure the card is recognized in audition.go to the options window and make sure it is there.CHECK AUDITION..sound like that may be where is problem is.

the manual is in .pdf format on one of the discs that came with the unit...READ IT!!! The E-mu Patchmix software is incredibly powerful, but also incredibly complex. Because of its huge amount of features, it can do more than any other soundcard in its class, but it can also be immensely frustrating. -60dB is still pretty bad. With nothing plugged in, it should be about -110. With an open mic, I get about -88 to -90.
