New sound coming from Mega...

I just heard two dance tracks and some Paul Wall Grillz on the way home today. It actually sounds better than what it did on Friday. Seems like they are laying off a bit on the reggaeton.

Also, XO switched to a Spanich AC this weekend... Did anyone take notice? It too sounds way much better than the disorganized selection it had before. (They are also doing Noches de Fiesta).

Seem like Mega & XO are finding their NICHE.

Mega has been peppering in mainstream urban tracks since it went on the air. Same with the dance tracks. There has been no change that I can notice.
Mega still seems to be playing reggaeton at the same frequency as before.

And it's Nelly F/ Paul Wall "Grillz" (wink).

Actually i never heard Stevie B and Angelina in rotation on Mega... But it does seem way much different than what I heard on Friday...

What day did XO change over the weekend? It looks like they might should of tried hiphop to compete with the box, they have a hiphop station up at Dallas, they could also be targeting the people in Victoria as well with KIOX.

Paging David Eduardo...

Anything to this that you've heard? Haven't had a chance to listen myself for any length of time.

Here's hoping the next thing that both of them find is a one way ticket out of this market.

I remember MEGA playing some classic dance mixes on Fridays at 5 last spring or so.
I don't know the artists played on XO but I did scan through to them every now and then and despite not being able to understand the music I liked the way it sounded.
If I knew Spanish, I might listen more.
They played some dance mixes on Friday evenings (maybe on Saturdays too, but I'm never scanning the radio then) too.

You mean you can pick up XO? Compared to them, KIOL is a local.
______________

I was sitting at the Starbucks by the Galleria and could pick it up on my little mp3 player and I can pick it up pretty well near my home in Pasadena.
I can pick up KIOL out there as well.

XO is pretty noisy in my car at the same Starbucks, but the last time I popped over there, they could have been dealing with tropo.
______________

It is AC with light pop, like Moenia and Mana. I guess it changed name, but I forgot to ask about that. At the end of the day, it's a Liberman bottom feeder and not very interesting.

Wonder if Liberman has thought about fliping it to hiphop? They got one up north of Dallas wonder how well that one is doing?
______________

It does horribly. Apparently the station can not switch to Spanish until they move off the current tower, where they have a covenant to stay English. That is a long way away.
