New Sound @ Magic 105.3

New playlist @ Magic 105.3...Sounds a little Rhythmic AC/Hot AC/Top 40-

Black Eye Peas
Kings of Leon
Beyonce
Lady Gaga
TLC
Tiffany
Culture Club
and many others.

sounds like they all made the Hot AC charts to me, it is not unusual for a Hot AC to have these types of songs Kings Of Leon, TLC, Tiffany, Culture Club, and Black Eye Peas (just like the Fugee's) I see those songs suitable for a Hot AC formatted station, and that is what Magic 105.3 is.

So what does this mean? Is the Hot AC format changing with the times or is Magic veering towards format flip?

I will be very interested in seeing what happens with this.

I never really thought of 105.3 as a Hot AC station. It always sounds like a more Mainstream AC song is playing. I haven't heard Lady Gaga, Jason Derulo, or Katy Perry play on 105.3 ... yet.

Personally, the "Magic" moniker has been in place for as long as I can remember, but I think a change would be good.

Remembers the old....

"Oooooh Oooooh It's Magic"

Wow, I just showed my age.

That was back when they were an oldies format.

Magic is long due for a tweak. Even Q 101.9 plays more newer stuff than Magic.

It would be nice to get a station like LIVE 105 Alternative Rock.

But if this ever came up, Cox would have 3 rock oriented stations in San Antonio..

Live 105, Alternative Rock
99.5 KISS, Modern Rock
x106.7, Adult Album Alternative

That's ok. CBS in Houston has a CHR and AC/CHR station. Cox in Houston has a classic hits and 80s station whose playlist overlaps. CC has The Edge and The Eagle in Dallas - an AOR and alternative rock station.

Why not?

I completely agree with you.

Magic new adds is definite shift to a little more Rhythmic than in previous years. Outkast & Destiny's Child played on Magic....WOW!!!

The Hot AC format is changing with the times. I hear Hey Ya by Outcast some times on Mix 94.7, and Paul Hardcastle's 19 (the last time I heard Paul Hardcastle's 19 on the radio was in 1994 on 96.1 KSJL in San Antonio) Haven't heard Paul Hardcastle on Magic yet.
