New Sound of Kixx 100.5

Well, well, from out here in the barn, up on the farm in Sharon - the boyz and I have noticed a bit of a change! ::) Hmmm, 20 years of Country! New Voice, New Jingles - no more 10 in a row??? "the Kixx commercial free ride"??? What's Up with all that? :p My big girlfriend at cc and I are just listenin' and a wonderin'??? :-*

Ms. Mary ;)

I'm sure the changes are good changes since there seems to be a country battle brewing between the long running Kixx and the upstart Wolf.. I'm sure Kixx is not ready to give up any turf, and don't they have a credible consultant helping them to find their programming ways ? Will have to tune in and check it out when I'm over that way..

What I hear from insiders is that now the Pulse is up an running, UVR is looking to give KIXX a face lift. New imaging and jingle package plus in studio mid-day and afternoon drive jocks and I hear a new transmiter is on the way to boost the signal back to where it was before CC let the equipment fall apart. Looks like the fight for #1 in the Upper Valley country market is about to get bloody.

You are not serious right?

;D

not that you really care, but what do you think?

I can't foresee any 'bloodshed' or 'injuries' in this battle to be the number one country station in the Upper Valley. Healthy competition is a great thing, and the winner of the 'battle' is ultimately is the listener since there's totally something in it for them ! You're not serious, right ?? ;D

I totally agree. Best way to become #1 is winning over the listeners. So I would expect big stunts and bigger promos. But do you think there will be any "calling out"?

My 2 cent take would be more towards good and perhaps creative promotions. The staffs are way to small to get into the minutiae of other stuff.

I'd take Kixx; kind of like being in a very familiar house that's been updated with fresh coat of audio paint and much more. Plus you have to give a nod to local ownership that knows that market quite well.

KIXX sounds pretty good.
I notice they moved their midday girl to afternoons and put a guy in her place.
wise move? thoughts? not sure on that one.

The Good :
T & P continue to improve. The mornings are fun, VERY local and the imaging has more balls and they seem to be busy promotionally.

The Bad :
Website is trash. Nothing new at all. Signal is still weak in the lower valley. AM news is horrible. Bad move for T & P to drop it. Sounds incredibly canned.

The Ugly :Seems "the valley" has forgotton Jason Place. Could the wolf be sent back to the den this book? My money is on a neutered wolf changing formats within a year.

Wonder if it would be worth it for Kixx to have a repeater in the city everybody has a repeater to target.. Claremont.. Maybe even in Springfield ?

Let's see now...take the number #1 ranked station (tied) and probably the highest billing Upper valley station and change the format?

Keep drinking that there cool-aid.

Do you really think that "The Wolf" as a single station is the top biller in the UV? That's very good if they are.. I would have figured that Kixx and / or Q106 are the big billing machines just broken out by station.. Certainly know that Q106 was a billing powerhouse, I'm sure it still pretty much is being the only station that has 50,000 watts of pow-pow-power.

Can you really count the last two books? KIXX was in total transition. The book before last it was a lame duck of the soon to be bailing out CC and the last book was a huge transition period. I think this book will show a correction. Wolf AM is boring. T&P, weather at them or with them, it looks like people are laughing. If KIXX does their big holiday promotion, and it's anything like last year, good chance the champ may take the belt on their own again.

Ms. Mary:

I hope you don’t mind if a hurl a random complement your way… I just want to say - I enjoy your writing style. Its kind of a throwback to the Hollywood insider type columns that were in the news papers in the 30’s 40’s and 50’s. You should write an inside radio column in the lifestyles section of one of the states dailies. I think it would be good for radio!

Louie, You tiger! meow!!! ;) You sure know how to make this lil ol' gal blush! :) I must say from up here on the farm in Sharon, I do like the idea of hittin' the lifestyles section in the papers! In fact my big girlfriend at cc and I are thinkin' syndication!! Yee Haw!! Now we just need a really hard hittin' name for the column! ;D ooooh, my, did I just say hard! goodness!

Ms. Mary ;)
