New sports station in Gainesville

WYGC 104.9 (High Springs) is now "105 The Game". They had been simulcasting Thunder Country. It sounds like it is pretty much all Fox Sports for now. They don't have the greatest signal in parts of Gainesville but then neither does WGGG so will be interesting to see what happens although I'm guessing ESPN has more appeal than Fox Sports. When I'm driving around during the day, WMOP actually comes in better than WGGG.

I guess this means the Asterisk folks have finally accepted they'll never be able to match or beat WOGK, even with a 104.9 simulcast for the "Gainesville side" of the market.

Will be interesting to see if they now reposition WTRS as an "Ocala station" OR if they move the Alachua Co. simulcast to 99.5.

May not be a bad idea, Star's 12+ numbers now are pretty pitiful. TRS came away with a 4.2 in the ratings that came out Wednesday. I think 99.5 would nicely fill the holes that 102.3 leaves behind... quick check on TRS, never realized just how much juice they had pumping out of their stick in Dunnellon.
