Gem 107 has a program on every sunday evening from 7 pm to midnight called "Sinatra and friends".It's a nice relaxing mix of light standards. They say you won't hear this music on any other radio station and they are right.Certainly not on fm for sure,I think it's great for the area. It's not the same artists crossing over on ten different stations.FINALLY SOMETHING DIFFERENT.WHAT A CONCEPT.Go Gem 107 you rock!

I agree...I am enjoying the GEM...I hope the station does well. I did not know about the Sinatra on Sunday but I will be tuning in then. The GEM is a GEM...

Heard it Sunday on the way back from Philly. Didn't WNAK have it at one time? I can remember on weekends Frank & Friends one night (Saturday?), and The Best of Broadway on Sunday night?

Hey, thanks for the great comments you guys....Sunday night was the first night on Gem 107.7 for Sinatra and Friends....we've carried the show for 6 years on our other stations....we've made some adjustments, and thought the Sunday night "Sinatra And Friends" sounded like a good fit at this time. I'll let Allan Waterhouse know to check in and read the nice comments.

Earlier in life Allan was an on-air personality at the old EZ 101 (now B-101) in Philadelphia...and also on WBCB AM 1490 in that area as well.

By the way, I just set up an email address for Sinatra And Friends...if you'd like to email questions or a request the address is [email protected]

Allan does the show live nearly all of the time and was there Sunday night...I'll tell him to give out our toll free number during the show for requests.

Ben

Sounds great!! I will tune in to GEM 107 the next time I'm in NEPA....keep up the good work, Ben!! ;D

Longing for the good old days

whats the format of gem 107? to carry a sinatra show, i'm assuming they must be soft ac or standards of some sort. sounds nice. i'm a little too far out of coverage to pick it up. i cant find a website for gem. guess one doesnt exist?

long time ago, i'm thinking early 90s or late 80s i vacationed in the wellsboro, pa area and remember a beautiful music station called i think gem 97. i assume this is no relation?

Hi I - 78...

The format of Gem 107.7 is 60's and 70's music....no website yet, although it's on my list.
Hope you can catch the station some time!

sounds like my kinda stuff. as long as you're not forgetting those mid to late 70s soft ac artists that i have a soft spot for like starbuck, carpenters, manilow, hamilton frank & reynolds, etc, then you're good in my book ;D btw, i guess i sound like an old man but you'll be happy to know i love those artists and i'm only in my 30's. :D

how is the signal in the scranton, wilkes barre city proper area? i make it up that way sometimes.

All artists I played as currents during my favorite years on the radio. Moonlight Feels Right was one of the best little pop hits of all time, IMO. Don't Pull Your Love was another right up there with it. Hey, I ain't sayin' these were masterpieces of composition, but they were fun, which is what radio was all about it.

How about Maxine Nightingale's Right Back Where We Started From?
I can recall where I was and what station(WIP)I heard it for the first time, and thought immediately, "That song is going to be huge." And it was, but when was the last time you heard it anywhere?

right back where we started from is a genius of a tune, but I actually prefer her slightly less popular "lead me on." now THAT song is even rarer than the one you mentioned.

and i also have to take a slightly different road with hamilton joe frank and reynolds as i like "fallin in love" a bit better than the one you mentioned. again, another song extremely rare on the radio although sunny 104.5 in philly used to play it.

what great tunes. now you've got me started. what about gene cotton "before my heart finds out." how about david soul "don't give up on us baby." or ian matthews "shake it." or how about kenny nolan "i like dreamin'" i could go on and on. :'(

Interstate 78 I like you choice of music...Here I was thinking I was the only one who liked "Don't Give Up On Us Baby"..and " I like Dreamin". I also like "Here comes the Rainy Day Feeling Again"., "Traces" ..and "Don't Fear the Reaper.. and I could also use a little more Gordon Lightfoot in my life. But I do like the GEM...I just wish the signal was stronger. I am awaiting the website too. /b]

How about a different show for saturday nights?Mabye a 1955-1964 show. The pre 1955 stuff is covered on sunday nights and we do have our 60's and 70's.But 1955-1964 would fill a gaping hole on fm.Some folks tend to forget what built pop 40 rock and roll in the first place. Overall let's give the gem time to establish itself here in northeastern pa.Remember rome wasn't built in a day.Ben Smith great job and keep up the good work. ;D

Ceaser,

As Meatloaf says, "You took the words right out of my mouth".....it's in the works...although it won't be Saturday night, it'll be Saturday Morning.

Thanks for the kind words all!

Ben
