New station: Highway 1 Radio

I do enjoy 98.5 HD2 when I'm driving around, as I miss KFOG. Question: What is the business model for these HD2 stations? Is there a path to make money or help make money for the conglomerate? They attract a tiny audience, have virtually no advertising. I'm surprised these HD2 stations still exist.

The only path I know is attach a translator. The online stream will cost them a few thousand a month. No real revenue unless they can get over 50K subscribers.

Looks like Bonneville may have an acutual stake in the Radio.Com App, throwing in with Entercom to compeate with the IHeart App and adding their HD2 stations into the mix.

That's correct. There was a press release about their collaboration last year:

February 22, 2019 – Entercom, a leading media and entertainment company and one of the two largest radio broadcasters in the U.S., announced content distribution partnerships with Cox Radio and Bonneville.
