New Station in Albany

Some may remember that a few months ago Cumulus swapped a station in Albany for a translator in Atlanta.
That station was WZBN 105.5. That station carried a all blues format. Well that station was sold to Steve Hegwood..yes he is back in Albany. He has since flipped the station to Hip Hop and R&B as " Power 105.5 Albany's Non Stop Hip Hop and R&B". Former WJIZ PD Jammin Jay is programming. It's currently running Jockless and promises 12 jams in a row commercial free. I just hope he take care of this station better than he did Hot 106.

Small market, hard to get advertising dollars I would assume with heritage powerhouse WJIZ competing... But great news!!! I missed Hot 106 I was listening to some of my old tapes from 99-2000 recently! Does anyone know the name of Hedgewood's Company, I'm sure its not gonna be On Top again....?

its Hegwood Media, But the market isnt saturated like it was a few years ago when we had 3 hip hop stations competing. money is starting to flow again. remember Hot 106 was #2 for a long while here in Albany with a 15 share while WJIZ had a 18 share.

Yes good building penetration and all it goes out maybe 40 miles from the tower. When WQVE was on that frequency it was #2 for a while.

Hope he actually uses a real studio this time. And I hope for his sake that the FCC violations from Hot 106 have been cleared up.

Hmm I'd have to dig them up, i think i got 1 and a half (lol) or maybe 2 of Hot 106 if you can get thru some of the static. But i want to eventually put all my airchecks on CD. I also got some Hot 975 from 1999 with Chris Luvva Luvva and Poon Daddy! Haven't traded in years! What years do you have of Hot 106 & Hot 975

Hey,

I don’t have any of Hot 106; I would take anything you have static and all; I have several Hot 97.5 Airchecks from 97 to 01 including the morning that B. I. G died. I have about 3 or 4 Future Flava shows (Chris and Poon) one from 1998 60min. and others from 99 and 2000 and 1 of the Ryan Cameron Morning Show all are 45min each. Also I have about 3 of the late night DJ M&M. I also have 2 60 min tapes of Hot from 2001 just 6 months before the switch to 107.9.
