New station in the North Country

Haven't seen any mention of this station on this board yet. I happened to be up in Littleton this past week and heard a new station on 99.1 "Free FM" or something like that. Basically a "Jack" format (though VERY loose...somebody needs to tighten up the EOM marks on the music!!!) using the same voiceover guy as MP103. Didn't catch a legal ID on it.
Anyone one else heard this? Any idea on how it will go over? Other than Magic 97.7, most of the local stations are pretty much jockless jukeboxes (as is this).

It's owned by Northeast. The tower is on Manns Hill in Littleton.

91.5 WWLR is Just weeks away from being fully staffed again and each dj plays what they want. unfortunately, since we all volunteer and everyone has to be actively enrolled at LSC it Is very hard to find DJ's in the summer. I get up to VT when I can but unfortunately, I work 3 jobs in CT which has made it nearly impossible.
oldbones,
Where were you when I did the " OZ " challenge? I stated I was going to call in sick if people called in. I even thank the people that offered to do my job for the day instead of me calling in sick Just so they could hear me on the radio. Unfortunately, It was not enough for me to call in sick and look bad at my Job in CT. I look forward in Dj'ing in the fall.
is any station current station in the North country currently looking for dj's?

WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES ANYTHING OZ SAID IN THE PREVIOUS POST HAVE TO DO WITH THIS THREAD??

And Oz, as everyone's told you before... radio jobs won't find you, you have to go find them.. send in your resume........ don't expect people to find jobs for you..

Allow me to bring this to topic.. 99.1 is a class A, shares a tower with WLED-TV and WMTK. Should combo up nicely with 95.7 WDOT in Danville. Funny how the FM radio dial in the NH North County and NEK are so crowded.. Did anyone ever build 94.1 in Canaan VT yet ? Anything allocated to Colebrook ? Seems like Vermont Broadcast Associates run a great operation there, hear Moo / WIKE are very much the real deal as well.. Lunderville or Puffer doing anything business wise ?

the 94.1 in Canaan got moved to 93.7 in Groveton. According to the FCC database theres allocations in Pittsburg on 97.1, Jefferson on 97.3 and 98.7 in Stratford; all Class A's

Oh geez. It' me blabbering on being an idiot as usual. anyway I am working on fixing a demo and resume. takes forever tho since i work too damn much.

I wonder how many of these will ever be built (or at best be a repeater for something else). Coös County isn't exactly a metropolis, and any of these are too far away to put a listenable signal into St. Jay or Littleton...the only real population centers in the area.

If someone puts one ever on 105.1 Fm in the north country which will probably happen I will loose much faith in the future of radio.
Is it possible or is the spacing of 105.1 WTOS and Kool 105.1 too close. the come in in equal strength in lyndonville.

I don't think you would see a full power 105.1 allocated to the North Country / NEK. But, maybe a LPFM could not be ruled out.. That's what has happened in Portland Maine, where WTOS used to come in fairly well until a LPFM in Portland was awarded the 105.1 frequency there. You never know.

You will lose faith because you can't hear your favorite radio station?? waahh. tough s&$t!

If you ever get the chance, come to the NYC metro area see if you can tolerate listening to the same garbage every 4 hours if your a radio lover like me. I have to do it all summer. the playlists are very tight and many songs that the NYC stations could play they don't. (and yes I have satellite radio and to be honest I am sick of the cut outs that there is nothing they can do about as well as the low audio quality.) then let me know how thankful you are to be able to listen to a station like tos.

TOS has far less competition for advertising dollars, and thus can take more chances with their programming. New York stations have several competitors, so they must ensure that every record they play is safe for their audience.

I just want to start by clarifying - this isn't a destructive criticism but a constructive criticism so don’t get too bent…

I notice that most of your posts are a bit convoluted and spelling and sentence structure are a bit unusual. I mention this only to comment that if your resume has structure like your posts that may be one of the things holding you back from that really good gig. I know you may be a little enthusiastic while typing away but at least read over the post before smacking the Submit button. I know I’d have a question in hiring you because I would have to wonder if your attention to detail is only because of your enthusiasm to get it done or if you truly aren’t focused while performing a task.

I know it’s a small detail but quite a number of things in life are small details – like breathing… :) Good Luck in your quest…

Good point. If you want to be successful in the communications industry, you need to be able to communicate well...the most important tool you'll need to do the job is a solid command of the English language (or whatever language you speak). Disjointed sentences filled with obscure abbreviations, or spelling and grammatical errors is a good way to get your resume filed in the circular file.
