NEW STATION ON MARCO SORT OF

Saw a copy of a weekly handout, The Tattler, on Marco Island this afternoon. Seems a station of sorts has hit the air there. Actually, it's a little FM station in Everglades City that is now covering Marco Island via an off the air translator. Thing is the station is lower power than the translator! 100 watts for WBGY at Everglades and 250 watts for the translator at Marco.

I guess the pickup off air at Marco is good most of the time but can get ruff when ducting comes in. Anyhow, they have their studio at Marco and are basicly a Marco station. Just got on the air this week. They promise local news etc starting next week.

What is the Marco station dial position? I see that the Everglades City station is at 88.1.

Think it is 98.1

Similar situation here in the Miami area, and with the main on the same frequency!

WRGP 88.1 "Radiate FM" Homestead, with relays on 95.3 & 96.9....I thought for sure that one or both of these relays are more powerful than the main; if Radio-Locator is right, both are below. But 95.3 must have more coverage, or at least serving a larger denser area. There are other 88.1's in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area in which to deal.

You are right sir. WBGY at Everglades City is 88.1 the translator at Marco Island is 98.1.

Went down there Sunday to check it out. Heard both stations on the South side of the island closest to Everglades City. Only 98.1 on the North and up 951 almost to 41. The format is very good for a small station. It's all hits but not just currents but alot of older hits, more of a jaundra format than a typical format.
They had alot of Marco stuff like psas for the YMCA, local news, local promos and stuff.

Beats the heck out of BobFM. Who are the people behind this?

I live in west Broward....Gotta try to DX at least one of these....

I caught one of the Everglades Radio Network stations about 2 years ago, but nothing of them since. Won't be easy.

Well, there is a Bob behind the FM's...

They announced this morning they have added Iphone and Droid streaming through Tunein.com. Certainly looks like they have it together down there.
