New Station ? WDJS Dance 99.5

OK, I will reveal nothing because they are not bothering any "real" stations.
If anyone from the station reads this board, I will just say that before I spotted your tower in the dead of night, I thought your antenna was hidden in that tall tree a couple hundred feet to the southeast.
THAT would have been kewl!

They *are* bothering real stations --- just because most folk aren't DXers doesn't change things :)

Okay then, I won't ask where the tower is....but in which suburb are they, hmm?

I will send you an Email, but just you, no one else!

As someone who was on an LAX to MIA flight that was, somewhat scarily, diverted just short of the turnpike due to the interference of a pirate on the aviation band, I can't defend a pirate in any manner.

While they may not directly interfere with licensed stations, they are a danger to other forms of communication and scofflaws in general. There is no possible defense for their operation.

OK, if you are really interested, they have a tower a couple hundred feet northwest of that tall tree :D
It took me less than an hour of driving around to locate them.
I am eager to educate anyone who is interested on the fine art of DF'ing without special equipment.

Mr. E is totally right.....I forgot about aircraft interference. My reason was selfish.

Any male who interferes with navigation aids should be hung upside down by the you-know-what's untill they rip off.
The station may have come to an early end: off last night and off today.

Nah, they are back on.
Their audio processing is very professional.
They will not likely bring any aircraft down ;D

We have never heard of a pirate, an LPFM, or a translator running HD, if fact we don't even know of any digital class A station, running HD, although their surely must be a few out there.

I only know of one Class A FM running HD and that would be WQKS-FM 96.1 in Montgomery, AL. It's part of a rater unique locally owned cluster that only runs HD on this Class A in order to source two other formats on the HD-2 and HD-3 signals that they use to feed translators they own on 100.5 and 107.1.
I wonder why they don't just run HD with sub channels on their 100kw Country station to feed these translators and offer some coverage to the few folks that have HD radio outside of the translators' coverage area.
They feed a third translator with Alternative music from an AM station they own in the market so the cluster can claim 7 FM signals and 1 AM in Montgomery.

WXJC-FM in Cordova, Alabama is a class A and also runs HD. They're a Crawford station and we all know how gung-ho Crawford is for IBOC.

I found WQKS' HD to be every bit as disappointing as one would think outside of Montgomery proper, but inside the loop it seemed pretty stable for what is basically just a few watts of signal.
