Noticed that there was a grant for a construction permit for a new station on 1450 in Milford, PA (near Port Jervis)

interesting. God knows that area is a radio wasteland. you can only pick up about 4 stations clearly and those 4 ain't nothing to brag about. scranton, allentown, new york, and philly stations are all very difficult to get if at all. be interested to see what the format of this new station will be.

Philly stations normally don't even go that far north. You can go up to High Point Monument and and only receive 1 mayb 2 Philly signals if that. Most up there are the NYC, Scranton, Allentown, Hudson Valley, Binghamton and a few others.

1450 will be WQCD. Guess the owner wasn't able to find calls with a reference to Milford and the region or QCD was picked to get listeners who used to live in Metro New York and remember QCD 101.9 FM, smooth jazz until recently.

seriously? all i can say is 'wow' if you're right. are they going smooth jazz? would make sense. milford is fast becoming a bedroom community for new york city. where'd you hear about this?

I'd Imagine That The WQCD Call Letters Are Just Being "Parked" In Milford As the WPLJ Calls Were In This

Market Years Ago.... I Can't Imagine Smooth Jazz Or Any Other Music Format on 1450-AM.

Philly stations normally don't even go that far north.

i have to disagree on that. the philly stations can be heard up till Frackville PA. on the way to Dunmore i had 102.9 on on Rt 81, it was in clear as a bell, and i was getting the text on the display as well (whatever thats called). it was a long stretch of 81 as well. it didnt cut out until a mile of 2 past the part of 81 where a part of the mountain was cut out so the road could go through. thats a damn good distance. also, at my Pottsville location 93.3 102.9 and 104.5 come in better than 99.9 and 95.1 from allentown. and 107.5 from reading. even 94.1 comes in strong until you get over the mountain, then its something called 94KX

Why is it that every time a new station springs up or someone flips formats someone immediately says the words "smooth jazz"? Seriously, if there was a demand for smooth jazz, it would be here by now. Enough already. It's not going to happen.

You're talking Just south of Hazleton. the reason for this is Altitude. The same is True for the Northeast Extention going north. The Philly stations are clear in certain places between Allentown and the Bear Creek(Wilkes-Barre) exit (Exit 115). This is also because of altitude. In fact, you can hear Certain Lehigh Valley and Philly stations in Bear Creek at the toll plaza, but as soon as you start going down the mountain (Route 115), They fade out as fast as you can blink your eye.

i agree, but i still think thats pretty good. the Pottsville/St Claire area is probably the end of the Philly stations for regular coverage. by regular coverage i mean listenable inside and in the car in most places. after you get into frackville and rt 81 up by hazleton, you right its all about the height im sure. and that is the exact place i was talking about as well, just south of Hazleton.
