With the format doing very well in the ratings we're bound to see more markets welcome a second CHR. There's even a few markets, like Salt Lake City, where there's 3 CHRs battling it out (something that was more common in the 80s).
Movin 97.5 Phoenix's transition to CHR/Pop should be all but complete in the coming days.
Pure CHR/Pop might be back in places such as Fresno, Beaumont, Oxnard, Hagerstown, Cape Cod, and Spokane.
Boston is poised to get a second CHR/Pop station - Kiss 108 is the highest rated CHRs in the Top 50 markets. Also, don't be too surprised to read about new CHRs in places like Columbus, Austin, Milwaukee, Knoxville, Des Moines or Raleigh. They all have CHRs that consistently perform very well in their markets.
2010 will be a year when either 95.1 WAYV or rival WSJO 104.9 will finally decide to go full blown CHR/Pop as opposed to being semi CHR semi Hot A/C at the moment.
A pure CHR/Pop station might be back in El Paso. 104.3 Hit FM has been moving back in that direction, and at times 93.1 Kiss FM has been a very hot sounding Hot AC
Would love to see a CHR/Pop station in Atlanta that isn't as Adult leaning as Q-100 and Star 94.
2010 might be the year we see new CHRs pop up in Central Florida, either in Tampa or Orlando (perhaps both?)
We may see Memphis get a second CHR/Pop station, on a more powerful signal than Q-107.5
Tucson's 93.7 KRQ might also have to deal with a new competitor.
Would be nice to see a good CHR/Pop in Dayton that doesnt rely on Premium Choice programming.
Erie's CHR, Star 104, commands over a 16 share in its market. Also, markets like Portland, Me with an abundance of signals and a strong CHR/Pop performer may be due for a second CHR.
