I was listening yesterday afternoon and this morning and I suspect that WICC has been moved to their new studios. For those of you unaware, Cumulus is updating their studios which date back to when WICC and WEBE moved into Lafayette Square around 1989.
It sounds like they may still have some things to shake out. This morning, the announcer microphone sounded thin and low level when compared to the news reporter's and other sources such as sounders and ads. There was also something that sounded like a phase problem on selected audio but I could only guess if it was one of the automation's output channels or not. The music during Tony's 5:20am musical interlude sounded odd but it is hard to describe. The level sounded fine and there were no apparent phase problems but it seemed lacking.
I'm sure they'll track it down in short order but I would dread the first time when somebody spills something on one of those nifty new control surfaces! I don't know how fault tolerant those things are when they get wet.
FYI: For those who may be a bit more curious, Paul Thurst has some details along with photos on his EngineeringRadio.us blog.
