New Sunday Night dj for Amp

Mattcatlover456 said:
I was just listening at about 10:00 and heard a Dj making requests.

Now that's a switch! "Is this Caitlin in Roslindale? It is? Well, Caitlin, could you hold your iPod real close to your phone any play me "Call Me Maybe"? You will? Gee, thanks!"

Have there been any announcements of if/when Amp will start using live hosts or DJs?

With all of the excitement as of late with Evolution 101.7 and then WTKK flipping to Rhythmic AC, the buzz that surrounded the Amp has quickly died and no one is talking about it anymore. CBS needs to give their Boston project a shot in the arm soon.

hot 96.9 jumped right over them in fb likes!! I expect unless something changes in the next year or so amp could be unplugged and CBS could instead go after wklb and maybe partner with cumulus for Nash fm!!

AMP had a hire Cume than WJMN last ratings book, and I am willing to bet that their lead has increased when the ratings get released today.

Don't see them going away...

Amp needs to add DJs soon or be creative. It is clear they are not doing any harm to kiss 108 ratings. Latest Arbitron ratings shows kiss 108 with 8.4 and Amp declining to 3.1. We will see how Evolution and Hot96.9 do on next month ratings.

None of it is voice tracked.

But how much of it is local?

It's all local. I'm not privy to all the info but WODS is SAG-AFTRA just like WBMX and the union contract prohibits VT'ing. It also limits just running sweepers and songs. Have to have on-air jocks most of the broadcast day. I'm sure there is some wiggle room when the new format was launched, regarding hiring live jocks.

To be honest, I don't think we even have the software installed to VT in our studios. I know it's hard to believe but we're lucky that CBS Radio Boston is committed to local content.

Karson, every studio has the software...whether or not it's installed is another story ;)

Isn't that what I just said? I'm confused by your response. Then again, I'm easily confused, it's late, and I wake up at 3:50 AM.

What benefits CBS to get tied up with a union? #CCwouldn't

It's old inherited contracts. As for what benefits does CBS see? Ask them at CBS Hartford, a union shop where they sit on top of the ratings and the revenues. Their studios, like the sister stations in Boston, are staffed 24/7.
