New Sunny CP and WEJZ?

Sunny has a new CP that puts the city grade signal over Middelburg and a good part of Jacksonville, falling just short of the north end. Seeing how some music overlaps between Lite and Sunny will any gain in ratings come at the expense of the older WEJZ listeners? The median age for EJZ is still around 40 to 45. While core Sunny listeners are 35-55 My guess is Renda will attempt to make WEJZ younger. And whatever changes that may mean. Sunny sounds like a softer version of lite and for an average ear sounds similar at times. Any thoughts..

See the new WSOS coverage on radio-locator.com.

Sunny listeners have got to be very much older than the 35 you cite

Music from the 1960s and 1970's would have its strongest appeal to 55+ listeners.

Dont get me wrong, there is money to be made in older demos (Jones College did it for years),
but anyone who was an adult an in 1972 (listening to the Carpenters) is probably at least 58 today.

You’re right it’s core listeners fall between 50 -58 leaning towards females with some beginning at 35.

With the improved Jacksonville metro signal Renda will move to protect WEJZ by going after younger listeners. Arthur Crofton is moved to Sunny and AJ who currently does Am drive takes over afternoon drive or is let go. it’s one less person to pay. Just my guess. WEJZ is still a female between the ages 40-45.

That or they'll just trash the format and go oldies. What else is left?

Haven't really monitored WSOS-FM since they flipped to the "Sunny" format, but just did a quick check on yes.com and it appears to me that they've 'upped' the tempo quite a bit since they signed on with this format.

"Do You Believe In Love" by Huey Lewis and "Rich Girl" by Hall & Oates was not indicative of the softer/slower Streisand/Diamond/Bread/Carpenters lean they had when they first entered the market so at this point I do wonder if yes, there is some overlap between them and EJZ.

Two formats that are similar and share similar music. One signal is a cash cow and the other cost's the company money. The new CP makes Sunny a 100% Jacksonville metro signal. Never the less, it will be interesting watching the drama. If left alone, my guess is Sunny my finally get some traction. And that won't be good for WEJZ.
