New thoughts on churban format

Wasn't too sure about the playlist for a Churban format until I did a little research. I thought it was a little like the old YES97 or C-103 (Power-103). Seems it's going to be hard to mix Hip Hop, Urban, and todays hits. NOK tried that til Toby came along and smoothed it out. NOK was all over the road with TOO MUCH variety. You just can't mix Nappy Roots and Nelly with Phil Collins and Maroon 5. You can't mix and match formats to comply with the number one station in the ratings this time around and then switch again to something else when the ratings come around again. Sometimes you gotta work with what you have and make it better. It's sort of like years ago when Mcdonalds tried the pizza thing and Hardees did the chicken thing. If you're a burger joint.....Make a better burger! Does this make sense to anyone else? Everyone thinks either B106 or Oldies103 should for some reason or other should take the dive. Oldies did what it could. As times changed, so did they. After a while , they had to add 70's. It's a fact of life. You have to adjust with the times and the age groups. As for B106 they made a change years ago. They were a very soft format. Brent saw a change needed to be done. He hopped it up into a more Hot A/C mode and it worked. It's been a while and it just maybe needs another boost. As for oldies maybe more soul. Something to aim towards the old WOIC. Any oppinions ?

Personally I don't see the need for another urban station, but definitely do miss the old soul that WOIC played and would not mind seeing Oldies 103 mixing some of that music.

I think Rainbow Radio had the right idea with ZMJ when it first started with its classic soul format... Jammin Oldies was just ramping up about the same time... I think if ZMJ had a better signal at the time and had a wider playlist I think Classic Soul would have worked in Cola Town... I don't see that happening with OMG because it would pull ratings away from Kiss which for the most part seems to be leading the way for Citadel... CC
