New Throwback Hip-Hop station in Florence

The translator is completely outside WNKT's protected 45 dbu contours.

True, but W298BI's signal overlap still reaches towns like Lamar, Bishopville, Timmonsville, Hartsville and Lynchburg, some of which extend into WNKT's 50 dbu contour and W298BI has a non-directional signal, a directional signal would help with this...Still, it probably wouldn't matter as perhaps almost no one is listening to WNKT anyway.

Even with a directional signal away from Columbia, W248DD (97.5) causes interference in Union SC where WCOS should have a 60 dbu signal, but now its unlistenable there.

I agree. It's take it or leave it sometimes with Wikipedia. Nothing beats hearing it live on the radio. (Referring to an earlier post as to the reliability of the source.)
But Wikipedia requires a journalist to actually hear it and write about it, or something like that. Even the station's web site could be a source, even if isn't independent, and someone has added that. However, I personally can't access it because McAfee considers it a threat.

My edit has been allowed to stay, so sometimes you don't have to follow the rules.

And I am one of those who sometimes notices incorrect information and corrects it.

I’m not sure if you meant outside of the Columbia market, but WNKT has plenty of listeners (and more importantly advertisers) in the market and general area. It’s not a top station, but there are plenty of listeners and it probably bills quite well.

I can no longer get a strong signal in Laurens County due to W248DD. I also used to get a clear signal from WBT-FM but WCON-FM from Cornelia, GA is just too powerful for WBT-FM to overpower them anymore.

Yea for 107.5 it meant its probably not as popular for the sports format except the few listeners that like live games, I would say the translator station might even get more listeners on a weaker signal.

Yeah regarding W248DD their null is to the Southeast (between 180° to 90°) but not to the south and Southwest (225° to 180°) where the signal would overlap especially between cities like Woodruff and Laurens/Clinton. A few miles south of Union, near Carlisle and Whitmire, WCOS has a very strong signal without the Spartanburg station interference.

Though, Woodruff and Union are both about the same distance from WCOS (50 miles) and the Spartanburg station (20 miles) Woodruff can't hear WCOS anymore as W248DD has a stronger signal there. In Union both are about equal strength and can't hear either one.

Not sure whether to say this translator is causing interference to WNKT or vice versa. Terrible signal from the translator unless you're in downtown Florence or west of town.
North Florence on I-95 I'm getting interference from WNKT and WKZL but that could be tropo taking place this evening while I'm here.

If Fiona cooperates and nothing else goes wrong I'm going to Myrtle Beach tomorrow. I expect to have some additional comments for this thread when I get home.

Really bad interference around Marion, which was the first place I thought of trying it. Probably Z from Wilmington.

I'm not going to like a classic hip-hop station. There are a few rap songs from that era that I like, but not enough.
