Re: New Time for The Lost 45s

Thank you for that post! Very nice to get an extra hour in these difficult times.

Sunday nights, 7 To Midnight in 2009 on Oldies 103.3.

Extra show's running on-line as well now, 24/7.

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!

Wasn't the show 7-10 at one point...gained an hour, and now another one! Congrats. Maybe
there's a way the show can get on XM/Sirius somehow, if it isn't already, though people can
certainly get it online worldwide...

I think that goes all the way back to the WBOS years, just before it moved to Mix and also went syndicated as well. Barry would surely know more than me though.

Re: New Time for The Lost 45s 7 to Midnight, 5 hours.

Hmmm. It started on ZLX (1985) from 7 to 10pm, then 7 to 11 on ZLX, MIX 98.5, Eagle 93.7 and Oldies 103.3. Did I miss any call letters? lol.

This is the first 5 hour shift and will enable more requests and longer songs. Matter of fact, "The Killing Of Georgie" by Rod Stewart is the Top 30 lead-off for the 11pm All-request hour this week!

Glad to be able to keep hosting and creating the show each week. I recognize how rare it is to have a time slot at all, much less play songs that are 'different.' Who knows how long terrestrial radio will even allow this much? If they continue the way they are, quite frankly, my decade old internet job at www.finetune.com will be left at the end. Who would have thunk it?

"The Gold Rush" on WERS 88.9 in the early '80s. Don't forget your roots!

Of course, WERS/Emerson College was a Saturday afternoon shift though! And, no, I never was on a 98.5 WROR...they were MIX 98.5 when I started.

Oh, forgot that The Jordan Brothers version of "Gimme Some Lovin'" (#1 here in Boston according to the now defunct RKO) will be given a rare spin in the new 11pm "All Request" hour this Sunday on "The Lost 45s" and www.lost45.com!

I believe "The Lost 45s" has been at every dial position in 27 years...that way we can stop this thread, lol.

Thanks to "Lost 45's" and "Kasey Kasem", you can be spared radio's assembly line approach. Of course,Barry's show is indispensable for those who want something different, but recently on Kasem's show, a re-broadcast from '76, the first 12 songs(40-29) were literally songs you never hear. These songs were top 40 hits, but have been dropped in the Memory Hole so we can hear "Bennie and the Jets" and "Saturday in the Park" for the millionth time. ::)

In short...7pm-to 3am on Sunday Nights is the only time WODS is interesting ;)....though I think the Wolfman Jack replays can be pretty cool.

Re: New Time for The Lost 45s 7 to Midnight, 5 hours.

Thanks for your kind words!

Michael Johnson ("Bluer Than Blue" "This Night Won't Last Forever") is the special new guest this week. Plus, John Ford Coley, Jan Akkerman from Focus ("Hocus Pocus"), The Manhattans and Chairmen of the Board!

Next week is all one hit wonders, with new guests Charlie Dore ("Pilot Of The Airwaves"), Pepe Cardona of Alive & Kicking ("Tighter, Tighter"), Major Harris ("Love Won't Let Me Wait") and Ali Thomson ("Take A Little Rhythm").

I forgot that we'll have a cool rarity this Sunday!

Jonathan King's version of "Hooked On A Feeling" with the Indian chant; later used by Blue Swede for their #1 hit!

It is very interesting to hear how he changed the song from the B.J. Thomas original!

Yes to Jan and he mainly wants to talk about the song "Hocus Pocus"-- but I'll try to ask while we cover yodeling!

It's from Holland, I believe...his ID is at http://lost45.com/interviews.html

I enjoyed the show on Sunday night. I much look forward to hearing the interview with the Shangrila's on Sunday. They were one of my favorite bands while I was growing up! BTW, I am not as old as one would think though. :D

Re: New Time for The Lost 45s 7 to Midnight, 5 hours!

Mary Weiss of The Shangri-Las ("Leader Of The Pack" "Remember--Walking In The Sand") is about the earliest artist interview we air on the show...but as the first all-female punk group, they are timeless.

We also will air a clip from local favorite Andy Pratt and play his timeless song, "Avengine Annie"--in honor of his birthday.

There's a 1981 Yearbook and a full hour box set of 'Girl' titled songs.

Enjoy!
