We'll announce soon a new purchase of another station to our company!

Q, your quick. No, this is another AM station, although we did buy the Waynesboro translator yesterday.

Meepster, close to where? This one is so close to Tenn. and Alabama, that it sits on the line.

No! We LMA'd Huntingdon, and ended up not buying it. Two months after we left, it went dark and remains dark. It may never be back!

I guess some stations can't be saved..

My next guess woulod be WSLV Ardmore..

I would say that's almost a slam-dunk. WSLV was up for sale on eBay (?!) last summer, sounds like the eBay sale failed & it's going to end up in the hands of someone who actually knows how to operate a radio station...

Only other AM station I can think of that's that close to the AL/TN line is WBXR 1140.

Guys, if WSLV were yours, what would you do with it?

We're conducting research now. But I'm always open to ideas, and getting a strong stream going on this the Tennessee board.

Fire away!

Hi Chris,

Sounds like your company is doing well.

Hasn't WSLV programmed country for the past several years? Seems like this was the station
owned (or once owned) by Ernie Ashworth and family.

Congrats to you!

1330 in Tallahassee, Fla. has gone silent as of Oct. 30..it's a mess physically, the tower is going to have to be moved within 2 years, and they want a mint for it..but I'd love to see someone like you pick it up! I used to
manage it, but after I left it was leased out and trashed..sad..

Thomas Media just went on the air in Covington today on WKBQ-FM with "Highway 51 Country". I think it may be Bill Thomas without the son.
It's today's country. Rick and Bubba mornings. A guy that's been there a while (mediocre on the air) middays, and some guy Mr. Thomas knew from Alabama in afternoons/PD. V/T the rest of the time, I guess.

They wanna go after country listeners from Millington to about Ripley...(up and down Highway 51)
He wants to get those listeners in the area that are only served by Kix 106 now.

I don't know if it's a flat-out purchase or LMA or what...but they got the AM too.

Its a 3 year LMA in Covington.

Ernie Ashworth was the owner of WSLV, and his daughter owns it now. Great people, and family. It programs classic country, and christian programming.

The great Ernie Ashworth also owned our WWON at one time.

Did the Ashworth's own anything else? That name seems familiar to me but I'm not sure why.

Ernie Ashworth is a long time member of the Grand Ole Opry, and had a #1 hit in the 60's called "Talk Back Tremblin Lips". He owned several stations including Gallitan, TN.

Ernie did not own in Gallatin...at one time he owned the Hartsville, TN AM
