New to this Adobe Audtion and trying to learn it...

Try this....

go to CONTROL PANEL
then to SOUND, SPEECH, AND AUDIO DEVICES
from there go to SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES
that will bring up a SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES PROPERTIES pop-up
it will have 5 tabs across the top...choose VOICE
then click VOLUME under the VOICE RECORDING section
adjust the volume slider & try recording again.
