New Top-40 Station in the Burlington Area

I hear there's a new top 40 station at 97.3 in the Burlington area. Anyone heard it? How does it sound...imaging, music selection, jocks?
 
It's running jockless and the reception isn't the greatest in the Burlington area.
Right now they're running songs and sweepers. Lots of rap and hip hop. It's gong to be hard to find advertisers in Southeast Iowa with a format like that.
 
It will be interesting to see the direction the station goes once a PD is hired. As far as advertisers go, it's sad to think that they still have no-urban dictates and are afraid of advertising on formats other than AC/Country/Rock/News-Talk. etc. That's crazy.
 
Not to beat a dead horse here, but I just found these forums. I work for Hot 97-3 here in Burlington, and yes, the reception is HORRIBLE in the Burlington area (damn River Country in Peoria). Just wanted to say after going through 2 PD's and NUMEROUS jocks in the past 2 years we finally have something that works!!

We call ourselves KKMI on steroids during the day, and then at night we really become hot. After switching to this we get 3-5 mins. of commercials an hour compared to 1-2 (on a good day) with the old rendition of hot 97-3!

¿Hasnt 97.3 been a top 40 for a while now? I remember when the station went on in 2001 and it had a decent signal in Fairfield and I had no problem picking it up in the car driving through Burlington everynight. At first it was a KKMI simulcast which allowed us in Fairfield to actually hear what was on KKMI if we didn't have the best receiving equipment. I had the feeling the simulcast would be shortlived, as early as 2002.
 
If the signal is bad in Burlington and it's a Burlington market station that's not good. If you have trouble picking up 97-3 Hot then try 97.7 kotm from Ottumwa I can pick it up in Mt. Pleasant with a decent signal but i guess 97-3 is only 6k watts opposed to kotm's 25,000 watts. Also kotm has some new music rotation and they are starting to sound good again.
 
97.3 was a KKMI simulcast only as a means to keep the license. Pritchard bought the CP with little time to build it. It was put on the air with a propane generator in the middle of a cornfield on a 200 foot used tower. This temporary means turned into a couple of years and by 2003 it was only on a couple of days out of the week. It moved to it's permanent site in late 2004. It didn't become top 40 until 2006.
