new towers for wurd

Just passed the WURD AM site on 63rd and Passyunk, the two 10 year old stand alone towers were replaced with two thinner silver stand alone units with white strobes. The replaced towers were in great shape so why the change. There is no mention of any change in the FCC database, does a station have to notify the FCC if they replace towers, is the signal improved? I enclosed a quick photo.

Radio Locator finally received the update, but why such an un noticeable change, all I can tell is a bit more night coverage in North Philly which makes sense, but they have that strong FM translator to cover that.....

A 1000 watter replaced 10 year old towers? That makes no financial sense. What is the hidden reason? The old towers had a structural issue?

According to the engineering report of their FCC filing, "A recent tower inspection performed by a licensed structural engineer revealed both towers had significant structural issues and required a height reduction of 8.23 meters as soon as possible."
