New translator app 100.3 FM

I know why KFRR 104.1 would do it, as a delivery driver when Tropo condition are strong and when the tule fog rolls in that area it becomes KHKK Modesto territory and the original app was in 2003 so they knew this all along, and another reason now also maybe do to KJOI-LP 104.3 Biola.

I just had to say, I was talking about KHKK 104.1 (50kw) Modesto, Not the weak 71 watt "Repeater" KDJK 103.9 Mariposa.

What a shame to knock out kjoi with that rock crap

Makes sense then, I've had similar problems around river park.

Yeah that 71 watt Mariposa won’t hold a candle to 27 watts mr Ken that 71 watts from its location goes about 50 miles you don’t understand height the 27 will go no where

What the... LMFAO, I was comparing KFRR 104.1 to KHKK 104.1 Modesto under tropo conditions including the tule fog, not that 27 watt repeater on 100.3 that they want to build to serve a small area , which will only go for about 4-5 miles like KKDJ 99.7, all on the valley floor, like KKDJ being blocked to KIOO they have KMAK 100.3, 72 watts on Bear Mt. 4100 ft,BTW I Know height and power combinations.THE FOX 95.7, KYNO 1430, KKBZ 105.1, KJWL 105.5 and KOKO 94.3 all play better Classic Hits/Rock and all have a bigger library than that so callled fake KKDJ.

Let me correct what has been said here read the Fresno bee listen to the callers on the radio they love KKDJ Fresno granted they only have 180 watts in Fresno but people love it and the tv is even better Ken you must have a vendata against mr Cocola 27 watts on the ground floor vs 180 watts are you kidding

71 watts at that height and distance from population is not enough power to really get a good signal anywhere. There is a myth about height that kicks in when the power is lowered so much to gain height that you have a bad signal over a wide area.

Oh not at all, Gary Cocola is a great broadcaster with all of his TV stations, The first to give us the WB network, and all of the classic TV like Me-TV, Antenna TV, Cozi, Bounce and etc.

Then mr kenrayc why do you continually bash Kkdj me Cocola has done a great job here more album cuts more music than the others?? Sounds like a vendetta to me listen to the station they are running phone calls from listeners praising the music

The TV biz I believe is a bit of a more money-maker than the radio biz. Especially a radio station that serves a very small signal area like KKDJ.

27 watts on the ground level or valley floor, would only go about ten city blocks.

Not necessarily.

If the channel is clear, 10 watts can get quite a distance.

I had 10 watt FM STLs back in the 60's in Ecuador. The transmit antennas were non-directional CB verticals with the length of the radiator and the radials cut to shorter length for FM.

The FM STL I had on 91.9 linked to my 590 AM transmitter site, which was about 40 km from the studio. We used an off-the-shelf FM radio modified only to "lock" the frequency and a trimmed TV antenna to receive the signal at the AM site. The transmit antenna was on the roof of a two floor building, perhaps 10 meters above ground and a bit below the tops of some nearby trees.

Even in the rain, in hail storms and under every kind of seasonal weather, we never lost signal. And at the site, on a cheap AM-FM car radio, I was able to pick up the signal well. Of course, at that time I had the only 5 signals on the FM band in the whole country, so there was no interference... but this shows what 10 watts can do!

yup, on a clear channel I got similar results here in the valley-- 15 watts @~50ft with a 5/8 wave Comet omni 12-15 miles and covered the sierras from Three Rivers to Shaver Lake
