98.5 W253BM was granted a month ago. Coverage area isn't very impressive but I wouldn't be surprised if an application to improve that is on the way soon. I don't see anything obvious that would cause a problem with this translator going 250 watts or so with a decent tower height. Maybe using WJAB's tower? The funny thing about it is before this application was granted it showed the parent signal as WEUP-FM. Since it was granted it shows WAYH (Way FM) as the parent signal. I'm not so sure the parent signal will actually end up being WAYH because Way FM has a decent translator already at 99.5, and Way FM usually owns its own translators. The owner of this new translator owns all of the translators that WEUP-FM is currently using and since WEUP-FM is in desperate need of a better Huntsville signal, I'd be willing to bet that, if 98.5 is able to upgrade, we would likely see WEUP-FM on it. Does anybody know anything else about this one?
