NEW TRANSMITTER FOR 96.5 WTIC-FM

W

WTIC

For those mildly interested in this sort of thing or keeping track.......WTIC-FM debuted a brand new transmitter (HARRIS HT25CD) for 96.5 last thursday at 12 noon. The older Main had been having considerable difficulty attaining full power for quite some time and was at a natural replacement point in its service life.

it is hoped fringe reception areas may now be perhaps slightly improved.

Hallelujah!!
I was wondering why I'd been having problems listening down on the shore. I'll be looking forward to getting decent reception again now.

I was beginning to wonder if this was starting to become a trend with stations from the North, as one of my students pointed out to me the signal not being as great as it had been.

I'll be passing through on the way to Boston on Wednesday and it'll be interesting to see how much the signal and sound have improved. Will definitely check it out!

All summer long, it was pretty much un-listenable while driving along I-95. All kinds of interference. I'll be looking forward to seeing checking out the improvements.

thanks in advance for any observations. dont forget however the changing wx patterns are really enhancing tropo conditions this month which may complicate reception in some areas.

you may also notice some sonic improvement as well. considerable time was spent fine adjusting processing to really focus on offering the best, crisp clean audio possible helping taking advantage of new digital path into the transmitter. (you may find the highs notably more 'open')

Thats good news for 96.5 TIC. Glad that they will have a stronger signal now. I noticed when I was visting for 2 weeks TIC came in with some static and they always came in clean before.

Now if you would fix or kill the IBOC on the AM side of things, life would be good.

Yes, I think tropo was having an effect last night since I was still hearing some interference down here in New Haven.

Now if you can replace Gary Craig, I beleive he reached the natural replacement point in his service life some time back. ;D

... And they can always go back to the "96 Ticks" format, too ;D
