New Urban AC In Knoxville, TN

It's WWAM-1040, but it's billing itself on-air as WJBE 1040 AM & 99.7 FM which is the translator. A little history about the WJBE call letters, it was an old R&B station that used to be on the air in the 60's and 70's on AM 1430 and was owned by the late Godfather of Soul James Brown, the call letters stood in JBE stood for James Brown Enterprises. Brown later sold the station and the new owners changed the call letters to WBMK and kept the R&B format. AM 1430 went dark somewhere around the late 80's, so this marks a return of the call letters to that market. The station's site is up at www.wjbe.am

Good to see :D, I don't think Knoxville has had a true urban for a few years. Was the last one on 1340 AM? It was there when I visited the city about 9 years ago.
