New Urban AC - Monroe,LA

We flipped it Sunday. Monday was a little shaky. I ended up with a stomach virus and had to juggle this with a hospital visit and an IV.

Positioner is Mix 101.9, Monroe's R&B and Classic Soul.

Lineup is Steve Harvey, Rob Lloyd (local), Michael Baisden, & Keith Sweat. A little more syndication than I would have liked, but the market is small, so you have to do what you can to make it work.

When I am all the way well, I'll post the website, streaming, etc...

I'm still stunned that you all flipped KNOE which was the heritage CHR for years in Monroe to Urban AC, I'm not sure about anyone else but never thought would see the day that would happen and didn't see it coming either. Either way, the station sounds good. I hope you all continue to have a deep music library and mix it up with more variety like you all did with Majic 97. Seems like you all picked the programming that was on your old sister station with exception of Steve Harvey in mornings which I'm not too crazy about, I'd prefer Joyner. Not crazy about Keith Sweat's show either, but like you said, you have to what you can to make it work.

And now you have to scramble and find a new afternoon show. The agony!

Doug is way past his prime. I'll do something else.

I'm in the loop on both sides of this. There is still a decent chance a deal will be reached.

Hey Chris, I'm just curious if there's any chance you guys would ever consider swapping signals to put The Beat's Urban on 100,000 watts and put the Urban AC on the 50,000 signal?

That was my suggestion in the beginning, but with KRVV being so established, I was shot down on that.

I DID want The Beat to move to 101.9 and do the UAC on KRVV (As V100).

Yes it does... It's on Tune In. You can listen on a desktop at www.mix1019.net (disable your adblocker before launching the stream).

I also have iPhone and Android apps, but they are still listed in the App Stores as Star 101.9. That will be changed next week.

I agree with you on that one, not that the Beat's signal is bad now but at 100,000 watts, i think it would've really crushed the region but oh well.
Well, keep up the good work man, I've always liked ur work. I'm sure u don't remember me but we met back in '94 when u were doing some Sat nights over at KMJJ in S'Sport

Thank you very much... I don't believe in the 500 song playlist. Urban music had so many hits (and album cuts) that most places just ignore. You should like us on FB. I am very up front and out in the open about what we are doing. I get great feedback there.

Right now, I am finalizing the hip-hop list and next week, we will start a mix from 4:50 to 5:20 for the drive home (short commutes here).

Thanks for giving it a listen. It will be way better next week. I coded a ton of information into the database last night, so I can get a better flow.

I liked you on facebook and I liked how you interact with the listeners which make for a great station,I like it very well

Thanks. My revised clocks go in tomorrow. This was done in such a hurry, it has been a lot of background coding and clean up going on. I think the musical presentation tomorrow is very close to what I want as a final product.

Tempo management is improved, as well as era management, and better scheduling of the Power Currents.
