New Urban Station In Joplin, MO

From Radio & Records.com

Joplin's New Urban
Oct. 04, 2006
By Dana Hall

Hardman Broadcasting has flipped sports WMBH/Joplin, Mo., to urban as "WMBH, AM 1560, Hip-Hop & R&B Hits." Owner/GM James Hardman will also handle the PD/MD duties.

The station is in need of service and asks that product be sent to the corporate office: C/O Hardman Broadcasting, 4011 S. 92nd East Ave., Tulsa, OK 74145.

The also have a website, it's not quite up to par yet but it's www.1560thebeat.com

i perosnally dont see how an AM urban station in joplin will ever work. it might work, and i hope it does. i just dont see how someone could make money at it unless it is mostly syndicated or tracked. has anyone heard of James Hardman. does he know anything about Urabn-hip-hop and RnB music?

I was a little bit skeptical myself when I heard about Urban station signing on in Joplin, MO because I don't think the Black population is that large, maybe it has grown a little bit I don't know. From what I've heard they're airing ABC Radio's The Touch Urban AC format in all dayparts except for evenings where 1560 will play Hip Hop in that daypart.

How well will this station, on a high dial position really do with 250 Watts Day and 9 watts at night? Do they forget to power down ?

By the way, how come they have W calls and the other stations have K calls.. ??
