I just received a pre-release copy of the newest version (version 3.7.4) of the North American MW Broadcast Antenna Coverage Patterns program from Medium Wave Circle.

There are a couple of nice improvements over the previous version of the software.

The latest callsign and technical data for all US and Canadian MW stations
Expansion to cover Mexico, Bahamas and the Caribbean for the first time
Expansion to cover 490kHz – 1700kHz; now includes MW Navtex stations
Addition of real-time night/day terminator (greyline)
“Click+Save” setting of your receiver location
Easy tuning control added to control bar
Easy daypart selector added to control bar
Ray tracing control added on a per station basis.
In-screen “Help” button

The software performs flawlessly. I highly recommend it for MW DXers when it becomes available.

At less than $5, it's well worth it! And the purchase was a snap via PayPal, and payment can be processed even for those who don't or won't for whatever reason, possess a PayPal account.

Downloaded mine this afternoon. For a little over $4, you can't beat it! Very pleased....including with the new features.

Downloaded mine today as well. Very impressed so far.

When setting up this software, you can obtain your exact coordinates by going to Google Maps, finding your location on the map and right-clicking on the location. Google will give you the exact coordinates of the location.

A Pound (£) is $1.35.
Speaking someone who spent nearly 25 years working for two different British company and having traveled across the pond once or twice a year, I can vouch for $1.35 being a good exchange rate. At one point about 10 or 15 years agom, a GBP was worth a little over $2.00. At least a few of my British colleagues would bring an extra suitcase when they came over here, and fill it with clothing and other merchandise to take back home with them.

I received the following email from Steve at Medium Wave Circle:

I noticed that RDMW was subject of a bit of discussion today.
May I fill you in on a bit of background?

RDMW (Radio Data Medium Wave) was originally created about 9 years ago by US radio amateur Bill Scott WE7W and he updated it more or less annually using FCC data. About 3 years ago Bill expanded the incomplete Canadian coverage.
The maps he created were copied and published on line by another amateur NF8M back in 2019. The problem was that this data was never updated and stayed online (to confuse matters in subsequent years).
More recently Bill Scott teamed up with the Medium Wave Circle to create a significantly enhanced and updated version of RDMW-2022. To avoid out of date versions lurking in corners of the internet it was decided to have a single worldwide point of distribution – in this case the MW Circle in the UK.
This has proved a very popular resource across the field; broadcast professional, US radio listeners and European DXers all seem to find RDMW-2022 useful.

The only minor headache is that in the discussion today, unfortunately a link was posted (by kevtronics) to the out of date stuff hosted by NF8M on nf8m.com. I think that might perpetuate the confusion out there and send people to 3 year old info! To make matters worse parts of the NF8M website do not correctly load Google maps anymore (I think due to changes in the Google API).

On a side note, we do have a small fee (less than two cups of coffee at Starbucks), but that has proved necessary to bolster & maintain our website security since Circle is non-profit club.

Sorry for long winded explanation

All the best
Steve

Does anyone know if it includes the Canadian stations on 530 and 1610 kHz? If yes, then I'm buying it, because that's the one thing that the free (but 3 year old) NF8M maps are missing.

For those who missed it, this costs a bit more than $4 USD, or less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks. We're not talking about a major investment here.

Thank you for your input, Steve.

I am Bill Scott, WE7W, the author of these maps. These maps are and have always been copyrighted, and as such, are not to be redistributed or posted on third party sites. No authorization has ever been given to anyone to do so.

Medium Wave Circle has exclusive rights to distribute them.

Hundreds of man hours have been poured into the latest 2022 update which includes many software enhancements. The program which creates these maps has been in development since 2008.

For MW Circle's trouble and bandwidth and hosting efforts, a small fee is charged (about $4 U.S.) to cover their costs and to help their wonderful club.

Bill Scott, WE7W
