New Weather Man on Channel 3

See? People like to rag on Channel 8, but at least their weather department is staffed by people who at least look like they know what they're doing.

I don't see his bio on wfsb.com. Speaking of weather what ever happened to Art Horn on NBC 30. He hasen't been seen in a while.

He was fired from NBC 30 back in 2005 for accepting payment for personal apperences. See this Radio-Info thread from 2005 - http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,211.0.html

PS He made an apperence at Southington Public Library Earlier this year to do a thing about Hurricanes and Other Tropical Weather.

I saw Art Horn over the summer a few times on WGME in Maine.

I may be in the minority here, but I always was a big fan of Geoff Fox and Dr. Mel. I'm starting to warm up to Gil now that he finally has a platform to show off his skills (he's on M-F morning now).

I did catch Curtis on the air Sunday morning. They introduced him as a graduate of Lyndon State in Vermont, which is a good program obviously. He said he worked in Montana before coming here. The Hartford Courant says he grew up in New Jersey. He does seem rather young, and is a bit akward in front of the camera. But he has the credentials and I'm sure things will fall into place for him after a few months here.

I am kind of confused as to why they got rid of Darren Sweeny. Is Curtis replacing anyone? So now WFSB has Chief Meteorologist Bruce DePriest, Mark Dixon, Scott Haney, Melissa Cole and Curtis Grevenitz? NBC30 is also using 5 meteorologists now.

There's also a new face at FOX61. It's meteorologist Rachel Frank, she's been on for two weeks now. I think she's working the weekend 10 and 11 PM newscasts. She's pretty nice. ;D

I have to say I like and respect most of the meteorologists in this market. The majority of them are good guys (and girls).

Agreed, Geoff Fox and Dr. Mel are great. That was my point.

You wouldn't be saying that if you met Geoff in person outside of work or at a public event.. he is one of the most self absorbed, arogant people you'd ever come across.

Speaking of CT weathermen, and weather(girls) like the new blond on fox 61, does anyone know what happened to Mike Friedmann? He was on Fox for so many years and suddenly he was gone, harford cournat said something about more budget cuts. I thought he was one of the best we ever had, very mature and well spoken..heard rumor he was going to channel 30? And what happened to John CArroll..also gone suddenly, the new kid they have is kind of dorkish. Caught the new kid on channel 3 this weekend, too. Also dorky..why did they replace darren sweeny with this kid?? TV here is so weird. Thanks, if anyone has any info.. :)

Curtis also worked at WSHM as their first Chief Meteorologist. John Carroll is the chief Meteorologist at KREX in Colorado. Mike was laid off from WTIC a while back.
