New WEBN Jock???

There's a new jock on WEBN doing the 10-2 shift named Mel Taylor. My question is this: Is she really broadcasting live from WEBN's studio? I have my doubts, primarily because when you click on her blog you can link to another ClearChannel station in Orlando that shows her doing their 10-3 shift. Now I don't know about the rest of you, but I find it very difficult to be in two places at the same time, especially when those places are several hundred miles apart! I'm assuming that she's voice tracking or something. If true, that definitely sucks for local DJ's who would love to have an on-air job in this crappy economy. I realize that it's easy to appear "live" thanks to our current digital age but, personally, I like to be able to call the studio and talk to a real person and have them provide interesting, useful information when they're broadcasting. Otherwise, there's no difference between this and listening to satellite radio, which in itself is only 1 step above listening to my favorite tunes on my iPod. I know these big companies want to save $$$ so having 1 DJ do 2 (or 3 or 1000) shows simultaneously certainly does that but I don't have to like it. Just another problem with, in my opinion, having every major radio station in town owned by only a couple of companies. Anyone know what's really going on over there on Frog's Mountain?

Voice tracking is a normal practice. Where have you been for the past decade? I'd like to visit that place.

yeah I doubt that anyone on WEBN is live at ANY time....at least not after ten am.

ClassX is the only ROCK station in town that actually has live folks in the studio during the day. At least, that's my understanding....I'm sure someone will correct me.

Gee, Matt. Thanks for the insightful comment. It's nice to know you've got nothing better to do after midnight than read online forums and post such high quality content. I feel so enlightened now - thanks. @Jack -- I'm a big fan of ClassX. It's rumored that my brother Apollo and I may have done a show there once upon a time!
