new website, new format for 1079 indy?

Guess he was right. I can already tell this format is gonna flop. It's essentially the exact same thing as the track just with a new name and no jocks.
How is this going to help them?

Slightly more of a pop lean as opposed to the Rock lean Track had... but essentially the same. It's definitely jock-less, though.

When was the last time Indy-no-place had a really bright creative programmer? Was it
Chris Conner in 1968? Maybe it was Roger Ingram in 1978? OK, it was long long ago
and ancient history.

Well we dont actually known if its Jockless. I Dont see Tom Berg going back to work for Entercom and Just sit in the studio taking Request from Online and Phone Calls. Same goes for Scott Roddy

My 107.9 - story goes that it may sound like all requests, where pre-recorded drops of call in requests will be the predominant chatter instead of jocks. :-\

you have to ask yourself.... was Indianapolis crying out for ANOTHER "Jack station"??
KLU goes away and there is an enormous hole in the market, thousands of Hoosiers are left without a radio station and Entercom gives us more of this SH!$!! two words "Format Duplication", OK, so its a "Female leaning" "Jack Station", its all the same to anyone expecting something that might actually serve the NEEDS of the listening audience.
i'll say it again... They have put lipstick on a Pig. and they will lose.... NEXT FORMAT....

I agree, this is lipstick on a pig. But allow me to play devil's advocate to stoke duscussion:

Radio companies are trying to figure out two things right now: 1) how to position to perform best in PPM, and 2) how to create the most profitable properties via a very modified cost structure.

It boils down to a very cume friendly hits-driven station that will likely be run without a ton of cost. This format was inspired by the PPM realities Indianapolis will be facing next fall. Alongside the fact this incarnation of the Track is likely more sales-compatible with ZPL. Perhaps they're trying to create a "wall of (18-49) women"

What also perplexes me is that classic hits/oldies is a very viable PPM format - just look at the overwhelming success in LA, New York and Chicago. That said, those stations rely more on personalities (who require paychecks). Just some food for thought.

The imaging voice sounds like Buzz Brainard. Isn't he also the imaging voice on Hank-FM? Maybe I'm wrong. If it is, they shouldn't be using the same image voice as another station in the market.

just sounds like hot ac without the currents... they removed the dance and harder rock and made it slightly more focused,,,, but it wont work im guessing.... Should have gone oldies or Rhythmic ac but no one listens to me.......

"My" is another name which means absolutely nothing.

So the current format will stick until after the Spring Arbs. Then they'll try something slightly different under the same clothing.

The same way they messed with the Track.

They may have a better chance now that the old GM is gone. He made some pretty unpopular decisions in regards to the stations. Now if they could just replace the OM/DP and bring someone in with a fresh, new view of radio.

I was so hoping for a true oldies format or even a 60s to 80s format, but instead I got a stale hot ac.. As a famous quote from the movie Christine.... You cant polish a turd,

I don't think the new format is all that bad. Of course I liked Jack when it was on 104.5, so I guess I am in the minority.

As long as they still play Casey Kasem on the weekends I'll be a happy man.

"MY? WHAT DISASTER? they will draw the same dismal ratings The Track had... filling the void with Classic Hits was a No-Brainer, they flunked the test. i don't know WHY they need Scott Roddy, it appears it will be nothing more than some kind of juke box from hell. Well... i guess the question is, IS there anyone who can see the obvious in the Indianapolis radio community?

Anyway, my bet is still Scott Shannon is coming to Indy...

But he is not listed on the TRUE OLDIES affiliate list: http://www.trueoldieschannel.com/Article.asp?id=1517630 which is usually up to date.

It looks like they didn't go with Scott Shannon's TRUE OLDIES CHANNEL format.

Apparently not...it's like everyone is scared of having an automatic 5 share...go figure.

Will it succeed? Is it the right move? Who knows. But the playlist seems much more wide open than the Track. I've listened on and off for the last day and they truly are all over the place (in a good way for a reformed radio guy like me.) It's nice to have this station to tune in to when I'm forced to listen to terrestrial. They're playing a lot of music I grew up on (for better or worse) and a large chunk of what I've heard is not being played on other stations, which is something you can't say for the rest of the freqs. Now it's time to test this "request" feature.
