Great! I've been on vacation so this was my first opportunity to see the weekend am news during the sweeps period. I'm afraid I slept in on Saturday until 11am (jet lag!!!). She seemed very pleasant but, honestly, just pronounce Caribe's name normally for heaven's sake. : This is up there with Neeecooole Herrrrrrnnnaaannnddddez-Cunningham!!
This may not be politically correct but I am getting real tired of "fake" Hispanic accents. These are English newscasts the last time I checked. Save the "accents" for the Spanish newscasts.
I'm glad someone else caught this! I actually lived in San Antonio before Phoenix and was very used to Hispanic names. However, in San Antonio, most people had American first names and Hispanic last names (i.e. Mike Ortiz or Roy Galvan or Sarah Lucero), so it didn't come across in such a pretentious manner.
